YohFest

YOH Fest is WA's largest health themed youth performing and visual arts event that gives school students throughout WA the opportunity to take part in an innovative and revolutionary approach to health education. This annual festival requires school students to get together to construct and perform their own dance sequence, drama plays, original song, short film or art piece based on a relevant youth health theme.

Mr van der Tang explains Cornerstone's entry:

'The drama is entitled 'Not What We'd Planned'. It is an attempt to tell the story of the Production Option class. Our main objective for Semester One was to enter the Bunbury Eisteddfod. COVID intervened and things ground to a halt. YohFest provided us with a new focus when they reconfigured the competition to allow for an online drama comp. The theme was isolation. As a class, we workshopped a piece which explores the emotional textures of the ups and downs of 2020.'

Open Night 2020

At the conclusion of Term 3, the College threw open its doors and welcomed parents and the broader community to join us for the Busselton Campus' annual Open Night.

The highlights were the Secondary School displays in the sports centre, and the Primary School's Dance-It-Up performances.

Thanks for everyone who came along, or who was part of making the night such a success.

Year 3 and Year 4 Hit the Beach

Whilst the weather was a little overcast last Wednesday, it was actually a perfect day for a hike along the coast. Mrs Hemmings took these photos of our Year 3 and Year 4 students taking in the sights at Smith's Beach. Several parents teamed up with staff to walk this iconic stretch of the capes - and we thank them for their support and partnership in the education of our students.

Class of 2020

It's approaching the end of the College journey for our Year 12 students, and their last assessments prior to the ATAR exams concluded last week.

Each year at the Year 12 Graduation, we have a few traditions that usually unfold.  One is the 'Growing Up' presentation put together by Mr van der Tang, and the other is a collage of photographs of the students' education over the years.  Due to COVID and the need for us to be accommodating of the format and location of the event, it means that these presentations will not be viewed on the night as part of formalities.  We will have displays available during the canape section of the evening, but so nobody misses seeing the journey of these students to be where they are today, we welcome you to view the first of these video links here.

We give thanks to God for these amazing young men and women - and ask that you join us in praying for them as they step into the future from here.

Outdoor Reading

Mrs Mapstone does a wonderful job in our library. She has sent this photo through, and we think it's worth sharing.

'I did our library sessions outside this week to remind the students that books can be read outside too and can be very relaxing, especially under a shady tree.

The book was called "A walk in the Bush" by Qwyn Perkins, Winner of the 2018 Children's Book of the Year Award.'

Great work, Mrs Mapstone!

Benjamin Traditions

All too quickly we move towards the Year 12 students finishing their time at Cornerstone. As is the tradition for Benjamin House, house graduates are sent off with a Survival Pack.

Mrs Wright had this to say:

'This pack should equip them with some of the essentials for life and remind them of their time with us! Some of the items are personalised to depict the student's character. Once again the students looked forward to receiving this memento - given with love from Benjamin House.'

Well done, Benjamin.
