R U OK? Day

Last Thursday was R U OK? Day. This day is so important in reaching out to our friends and family and supporting each other. This is of particular importance in the current challenging times. As part of the day, St John's invited students to nominate someone they think has been a good friend. Here are just some of the nominations and qualities described:

 

  • Gemma. "We play fun games online together. We talk to each other on our phones. We text each other".
  • Declan. "He has a great sense of humor, he makes our time together so much fun. He’s friendly and he has invited me to his birthday party. When we were at school, we used to play soccer, he’s a really good player and he always included me."
  • Ebony. "She is such a helpful person and she cares about others more than she cares about herself. And 99.9 percent of the time she has a smile on her face or helping someone. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met".
  • Eleonora. "Thank  you. I am so thankful that we met,I know,I know Coronavirus is keeping us apart so I wanna ask you  this are you ok?"
  • Isaac I. "He is nice, because he helps others that are upset, and he is a really funny person to be with because he is the kindest friend I have ever known ".
  • Bella C. "Bella is really kind and supportive. When we are playing Bella is very fair. She is very persistent and brave, she stands up for people".
  • Anna F (5/6). "Anna gives great advice and she works really hard, she would never give up on anyone or anything".
  • Ava D. "Ava is nice, friendly and she makes me smile when she pushes me through this heartbreaking time".
  • Kane. "Kane has helped me during this lock down because we chat everyday on Xbox and tell each other funny stories and we play with each other".
  • Aidan.  "Aidan has supported me when I have been feeling down. Aidan has been a constant throughout Remote Learning and has always lifted my mood".
  • Ivy. " You are a great friend and you are funny and nice and lots of good things".
  • Anria. "Anria is a great friend, the best friend you can get, she has the skills of a leader and the ability to tackle any sticky situation. She is so kind and always knows how to cheer you up. She is so bubbly and she has a great sense of humour".
  • Chrissy. "Chrissy helps me when I need it, she is nice and funny and always has a go in everything that she does. She is loyal and a good friend".
  • Mikayla. "Mikayla is a very nice person always happy and is never mean to anyone and always has a positive attitude to life".
  • Cooper. "Cooper always helps and is extremely nice to everyone".
  • Oliver T. "Oliver always has my back and he helps me with stuff I don’t know about".
  • Greg. "Greg helps other people and he is very kind to me".
  • Sophie. " She always makes me laugh and makes me feel good everyday. She is a caring and most kind friend I have met".
  • Oliver S.  "Oliver is one of my best friends and he helps me when i'm hurt or sad. He’s really kind and he’s really really good at Lego".
  • Jasper. ":I nominated Jasper because he is always kind to me.It is also because he helps me if I can’t do something".
  • Maxwell. "He has helped me sometimes in hard situations".
  • Monica S. "I feel like when I have no person to play with I can play with her".
  • Genevieve. "She is also so funny and makes me laugh and she has emailed me in lock down to see how I am".
  • Alina. "She is always a good friend and help me when I’m down and never betrayed me and we always have friendship and kindness".
  • Charlize. "She asks me if I’m okay when I’m lonely and helps other people".
  • Sierra. "Sierra you have helped me when I am hurt and just be nice to me. You are the best friend anyone would ever want".

 

National Child Protection Week

 A Parish Approach (September 6-12, 2020)

 

This year’s theme is ‘Putting Children First’ and encourages us all as individuals, as part of

families, organisations, communities and society on how we can prioritise children, their safety and wellbeing.

St John’s Parish Safeguarding Committee has devised a family activity “The Network Hand” and encourages your family to do this activity together. Once completed you may like to decorate and colour in your hand.
