Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers

PRINCIPAL LEAVE

I will be having a medical procedure and will be on leave from Friday 11 September to the end of Term 3. I anticipate that I should return early in Term 4. During this time Mrs Laura Karam will be Relieving Principal, Mrs Sarah Dean – Relieving Deputy Principal, Miss Vanessa Yousif – Relieving Instructional Leader and Mrs Nectaria Tsorias and Mrs Kelly Newman will be sharing the Relieving Assistant Principal role. Mr Kim Tran will be teaching 6 Venezuela. As always, I know the school will be well managed during my absence. Wishing everyone all the very best for the rest of term and the upcoming vacation period.

STAFF NEWS

We officially said farewell to Miss Kristy Byrne this week. Miss Byrne left us temporarily two years ago to commence in an Instructional Leader role. With this opportunity and extensive experience as a classroom teacher and school executive teacher, Miss Byrne has been successful in gaining a permanent Deputy Principal at Macquarie Fields PS and will commence duty next week. Due to COVID-19 restrictions we were unable to invite her back for a farewell, however we put together a lovely video with staff and Fairvale children saying goodbye. Best wishes to Miss Byrne and thank you for the contribution you made whilst at Fairvale PS.

PARACHUTING AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH MR PITT

2 ZAMBIA: On Monday I visited 2Z during literacy groups. Children were very excited to share with me all the various tasks they were completing. Some of the tasks included opinion writing, listing vegetables they know, talking about the FAIR Focus of the week and boggle. The children were quick to point out that my name appeared in the boggle screen. I was able to listen to a few children read and I was impressed with their fluency and understanding. Great work 2Z!

4 SAMOA: On Monday I also visited 4S. Children were continuing their learning about angles. Children used mini-whiteboards to show their understanding. It was great to see children using their arms to determine whether angles were acute, right or obtuse.  After the floor work, children made their own angles using the initial of their name. The next step is to label the angles they made. Check out some photos in this edition of the newsletter.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

FATHER’S DAY STALL

A very special thank you to Miss Michelle, Miss Samira and other staff who assisted at the annual ‘COVID’ safe Father’s Day stall this year. It was important to acknowledge that the Father’s Day stall wouldn’t have gone ahead without these staff members. These special days are important for our children as they enjoy purchasing gifts and I hope that our dads, grandads, uncles, big brothers and friends liked the special gift they received on Sunday.

STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

All adults on site will be healthy and ready to work and we expect the same for our children and their families. If they are unwell at school you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact details are up to date. Check out the link below.
