Product Design - Wood
This year has indeed been an unpredictable year in this area.
Students have not had many chances to work in the practical areas of this subject. During the first lockdown period, however many students have attended online classes which we have used to prepare and research our material with a view to completing some practical work, particularly in the junior years. There was a period of three weeks when students were able to make their practical work.
I was humbled by the effort of the students, both in the submission of their resource work and the focussed practical work, finishing their projects to a high standard, as seen below.
Senior students have shown the way developing their SAT folios this year. A group which, despite being affected by the lockdown and having the opportunities to produce their works, have been persistent and developed their designs to achieve great results. Below are some examples of CAD designed products with a view to them being realised. Of particular note were Carol (G12) and the students in Year 11 who have worked in an organised and collaborative way in their groups. We wish students well for the remainder of the year and I thank them for their effort, attendance and persistence in their work.
Designed pieces from this group are indicative of the design modifications made in CAD and the folios are set out in an excellent manner. These drawings are from Mehdi (H11) and Ali Sina (D11) but are indicative of the work across the class, including Marcelle (C11) and Elma (E11).
Well done to the students of Product Design - Wood this year who, despite the situation, have worked with commitment and persistence!
