Visual Arts
As we venture towards the end of another term with remote learning, we all feel very proud with our students within the Visual Arts team. Learning a practical subject has created a versatility in the teaching and learning approaches and has proven to many that success has been achieved through perseverance and discipline. Our students have risen to the challenges and have been able to be creative in many ways.
Our junior students have had many opportunities to engage with their teachers and have bonded well, considering they have never met face-to-face. We would like to thank our students who shared their faces with all teachers as sometimes teachers felt like they were teaching a screen. The human contact was important to all staff as it was to all students.
Although we could not venture to galleries as we would normally in the past, senior students from Year 10 to Year 12 attended virtual galleries, which did not inhibit their learning. Students even had an opportunity to talk and discuss artworks with educational officers which gave them an insight of the running of a gallery. Our senior students did us proud and engaged fully in responding to questions asked. Other galleries and companies reached out to staff to enhance our resources which was appreciated and has only given many staff new opportunities and connections for the future.
Our senior staff had an opportunity to work together in moderating students' work which allowed them to discuss and learn from each other to encourage the best results for our students.
Our senior students have been working hard to complete all outcomes, SACs and SATs to ensure that they have fulfilled the requirements of Units 3 and 4 and have shown great strength and resilience which has made us all very proud of them. Please enjoy some of the artworks that students have been working on during our second round of remote learning.
