Fern House
It has been a Term 3 like no other we have known, with huge challenges to overcome. We have been so proud of the way our Fern students have worked through this time, with both individual and whole House achievements.
Many students have been acknowledged by their teachers through green Compass Chronicle posts; these have then been shared on our Fern House Remote Learning Superstars Padlet. Currently we have close to 200 posts, a fantastic effort! These posts include:
- recognition of improved work ethic
- leadership qualities
- resilience
- collaboration
- attendance
- outstanding performance
Teachers have been working very hard to ensure that the learning experiences are meaningful and that there are opportunities for collaboration.
We would like to acknowledge the efforts of our Year 12 cohort and encourage you all to keep reaching out to your teachers to get support and taking on the opportunities that are offered.
Our SRC have been looking for ways that they can support the other students in the House and have offered a “students helping students” program. Thank you for the continued ways you are looking to help the Fern Community!
Some of our Year 9 students have had the opportunity to work with Swinburne University on the Bees with Backpacks Challenge. This challenge is in collaboration with CSIRO and the students will be designing a bee friendly environment. We look forward to seeing their creation!
Through Term 3, we have started to think ahead to next year and to help our students prepare for 2021. We enjoyed getting to meet with individuals and groups to discuss subject selection and pathway planning for 2021 and beyond. It was great to have the opportunity to speak with the students about their hopes for the future and how we can best support them in getting there.
Please make sure you take the opportunity over the holidays to get some time away from your screens and take care of yourselves! Enjoy getting out for a walk or other exercise in the fresh air. Look for ways that you can connect with your friends and families. Stay safe and we look forward to Term 4.
