Selamat siang!

Wow what a term! We can’t believe that we are coming into the final week of Term 3! Thanks everyone for all of your hard work and support to get us to this stage in the term, we look forward to a fun and learning-filled last week!

Last week in Maths, students spent some time consolidating and revising their multiplication and division skills. Teachers were admiring students' efforts to use the CUBES strategy for solving worded problems. Students were also given the opportunity to explore the different advantages and limitations of the different multiplication and division strategies. On Wednesday it was great to see students working their way through a problem of their choosing and explaining the strategy that they had selected to solve it! On Thursday, students combined their knowledge of multiplication and division to solve ‘multi-step’ worded problems. They showed their understanding of the word problem and what it was asking using the CUBES strategy, and then determined the steps they needed to take to solve the problem. Just a reminder that the Maths Masterclass Zoom at 10:30am each day (except Tuesday) is a fantastic way for students to collaborate with their peers and their teachers while solving maths problems. We strongly encourage students to attend these Zoom sessions where possible.

In Literacy sessions, the students spent some time constructing a procedure throughout the week. For this task, they were asked to brainstorm some different procedures that they would like to create on Monday. For the rest of the week, students spent some time developing and refining these. It was awesome to see so many students making use of teacher feedback to improve their writing! We also hope that the students liked our collection of procedure fail videos on Thursday. Student procedures have been uploaded to Seesaw, so keep an eye out for them there. This coming week we will spend some time reflecting on our goals and achievements over the past term.

It has been awesome to see the students taking part in the dry swimming program! This week we spent some time exploring signage at the beach and how to spot a rip. Hopefully these tips will help for your next visit to the beach.

Once again, we remind students to aim to keep working for the allocated times for each activity. If they finish early we have provided a range of ideas and activities they can continue on with. We also have a list of strategies and activities for students and parents looking for a next step. These can be found in the previous newsletters and on the MPRPS Learning From Home website which is linked below in the reminders section. We also suggest using a timer to help show how long they have been working for, and how much more time they could be using.
