The P&F is hosting a series of Zoom cooking demonstrations, commencing Saturday, August 29. 

 

First stop – India! 

 

Join us for 5 consecutive sessions as we explore delicious yet simple-to-prepare cuisine from around the world, hosted by a passionate foodie P&F parent. 

 

This is a FREE P&F event and we invite all members of the Huntingtower community – staff, parents and students alike – to join us. 

 

Let’s continue to keep the sense of Huntingtower community alive by coming together over comfort food!

 

Dish: Butter Chicken and Rice

Ingredients List for Butter Chicken and rice

 

500 grams chicken thighs - cut into bite sized pieces (can use chicken breasts but this dries out easily)

2 tablespoons yoghurt

1 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp coriander powder

3 tablespoons butter / oil

2 onions

2 tbsps tomato purée

200ml thickened cream

Salt to season

Fresh coriander leaves to garnish

 

Ingredient List for Rice

2 cups Basmati rice

1 onion

1/2 cup frozen peas

4 cups stock or water (stock cube – any flavour - optional)

2 tablespoons olive oil or ghee

Whole spices - cardamom, cloves, cinnamon. Whole spices add a distinct flavour to the pulao but it is totally optional.

 

Utensils needed

A chopping board

A sharp knife

Bowl to marinate your chicken

Grill pan / frying pan

A pot big enough to cook your chicken in

A pot to cook your rice in

A colander/sieve to wash your rice

Wooden spoons as required

 

Prep needed to be done in advance

Cut the chicken into bite sized pieces

Wash your rice
