From the Principal

Doing things differently leads to something exceptional

Welcome back to Term 2 where at College we’re doing things differently, albeit from a distance. Yesterday’s second day of remote learning revealed many more encouraging insights for staff and students into the way we can provide continuity in education over the next ten weeks.  Across the school, from Prep to Year 12, we enjoyed 96% online attendance and both Junior and Senior School assemblies were well attended.

The key state government message is “If you can learn from home, you must learn from home” but please be assured the College is still operational and we can be contacted via: phone 5572 1355 or  email using your normal email contact and/or reception@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au.   Most importantly, I encourage all families suffering from limited internet to carefully read the attached letter from nBn offering one to one sessions to discuss how to improve your home connectivity.

I thank my amazing staff who have invested so heavily into this new dynamic way of learning and in particular I would like to single out our incredible IT technicians, Mr Ian Cook and Mr Mitchell Clode, for their tireless work throughout the holidays to ensure 58 Myrniong devices were available for collection.

Finally, I am very conscious that our new learning arrangements will place strain on many families over the forthcoming weeks.  I seek your patience while we establish a new routine. Please also be advised that the Senior School Parent Briefing (via Zoom) will be delivered next Thursday 23 April at 2.30pm.  At the meeting, we will provide a detailed explanation about our plans and expectations this term.  An invitation will be sent early next week, and we welcome any questions you would like answered.  Please email Ms Kristen Waldron, Deputy Principal, Senior Years and Wellbeing by Tuesday 3.30pm on kwaldron@hamiltoncollege.vic,edu,au .

I remain here for you at ahirst@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au and I look forward to the day when your sons and daughters return to school.
