Sean Taylor- Designer Hoodies Textiles Year 9 entrant for the Teenage Fashion Expo Design Technology Competition, (3rd place winner)

My name is Sean Taylor and I did the Designer Hoodies elective this year.

I incorporated lights, and glow in the dark thread into my hoodie. Using EL tape (light tape) and a AA battery pack I velcroed the lights to the outer edge of my hood. I used double tape to stick the lights on the velcro. Using a Brother Scan & Cut machine I cut out the words ‘ Light me up’ and ironed them on to the front. I entered it into the Teenage Fashion & Design Expo competition and was lucky to place in the competition. I would like to thank Miss Day for her help and for entering my work into the competition.

Evaluating 4 Square Essay

(Serving Board)

I am talking about the positive things about my serving board and how I made it. The things I dislike or didn’t go so well and the changes I would make if I made the product again.

The positive things about my serving board:

Overall I like the way my board came out, I like the color, the look, the shape, and the way it feels. I made my product by using the wood that was given to me and the tools from the workshop.

First I found my design and made a stencil and measured it out then it was cut out for me by Miss Russell.

Secondly I filed and sanded the board till it was rounded and smooth, then coated it a couple of times with oil.

The dislikes or the things about the product that didn’t go so well: I liked a large amount of things I did on my board but some of the things that could have come out better were, the edges could have been straighter and a bit bigger, the board could have been longer and wider and the handle could have also been longer and rounder so it could have been handled easer.

The things I would change if I were to build this product again: If I was going to re-make this product I would likely change the length of the board, the shape of the face of the board, the length of the handle and how round it is, and the color.

Once I had finished the measuring stage and the paper work and got into the practical I greatly enjoyed myself making this product and I think it came out great.

Our clock projects are looking great! The students were given a clock mechanism and were given free reign to design a clock face around it. This is a random selection of their design solutions.
