Piccino to Year Two Nativity Service

Congratulations to staff and students for a fabulous Nativity Service on Tuesday morning. A packed church was thoroughly entertained with beautiful singing, consummate acting, articulate narration and halo acrobatics!  The Nativity dates back to 1223 when St Francis of Assisi created the first scene using hay, ox and ass in small cave near the Italian village of Grecio.  Long may it continue as a permanent fixture on the College calendar.

Junior School Speech Day

Tomorrow at 12.00 pm sees the Junior School community come together to celebrate 2019 at our annual Speech Day.  All students, Prep to Year Six, will take to the stage to entertain parents, grandparents and special guests with their singing abilities.  We will recognise academic effort and excellence, sportsmanship, leadership, musicianship and artistic creativity.  We will also farewell our 38 Year Six students who complete their primary school journey.

Year Six Canberra

The Year Six students and teachers returned late last Thursday evening after a very successful trip to the nation’s capital.  We spent two days visiting the Australian Institute of Sport, Questacon, Parliament House, Government House, the Australian War Memorial, Splash Waterpark and Phillip Ice Rink.  It was an educational and enjoyable trip.  The Year Six students were great ambassadors for the College.  My highlight was the tour of Government House.  On our tour of the residence, we were taken into a study.  Our tour guide asked if anyone knew what happened at a desk to the side of the room.  Annabel O’Toole put her hand up and answered, ‘In 1975, the Governor General dismissed Prime Minister Gough Whitlam.’ - well done Annabel!  The excursion was a terrific way to finish the Year Six Civics and Citizenship unit.  Thank you to Miss Sophie Ross, Mr Nick Palmer and student teacher Miss Jacinta Puls for their support and encouragement of the students.

Wannon Australian Sports Achievement Awards

Next Tuesday, the Junior School Boys’ and Girls’ Hockey 7s teams will travel to Colac to be presented with Wannon Australian Sports Achievement Awards by Education Minister the Rt. Hon Mr. Dan Tehan for their efforts in securing two Victorian State titles.  Year Six student Zoe Addinsall will also be presented with an individual Achievement Award for her horsemanship exploits.
