From the Principal

As Semester 2 Examinations conclude, just a few important matters to bring to your attention.  First, may I commend all the ELC 4, Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students on their superb Nativity performance last Tuesday.  In front of a packed Lonsdale Uniting Church, the children shared the Christmas story in wonderful fashion.  The innocence of the occasion was truly heartwarming!

Second, I am delighted to announce Mrs Belinda Nichols will be our new Head of English in 2020.  Belinda is an Old Collegian who has been on staff since 1996. She is an experienced VCE English and Literature teacher and was formerly the Head of Young House for 12 years.  Mrs Kym Dempsey will also join College as a full time English teacher next year. Furthermore, Mrs Sylvia McMullen has been appointed Head of Laidlaw House and Ms Georgia Hodge has been appointed Head of Young House.  Finally, Mrs Liz Anagnostou and Mrs Lise Lowe have been appointed boarding house-mothers in Macdonald and Speirs Houses in 2020. Mr Jarran Cook will take over as Head of Cricket; Mr Leigh Alexander (senior boys’ teams), Mrs Leanne Outtram (senior girls’ teams) and Ms Simone Brabham (junior teams) will share the Head of Basketball load previously held in its entirety by Ms Brabham; and Ms Matilda McGoon replaces Mr Nathan Ough as Head of Shooting.  Ms McGoon will also oversee the Year 10 Work Experience and Morrisby Testing processes during First Semester next year.

Finally, I invite all College families to attend Dr Geoff Handbury’s Memorial Service this Saturday at 1.30pm in the Handbury Sports Centre.  We understand many families will already have commitments but I do encourage those who can attend to join us and say thank you to a great Australian.  Dress for students is strictly school uniform as the whole Greater Hamilton community wishes to honour the family’s contribution to this school and our region.
