Grade Five

With the end of Term 2 almost upon us, we reflect on the term that was!

We celebrated the end of our Sustainability Integrated unit with our Travel Expo, which exceeded our expectations in all respects. The effort that went into the preparation of information, displays, costumes and the abundance of food samples available, was just amazing! The group work within class and on the day itself was also a credit to the teams presenting; stunning work one and all!

Many thanks to our Grade 5 parents who attended their child’s Student Led Conference and especially to our students who prepared and presented their conferences both reflectively and honestly. We look forward to our students continuing to work towards achieving the goals they have set themselves.

Our students continued to work very hard throughout both our English and Maths sessions this term. The SMART Spelling process continues to allow our students to understand how words work, while integrating the environmental component of our Sustainability unit into persuasive writing, enabled them to utilise emotion and give relevant examples to support their reasons. During Maths, our focus on angles saw our students become more proficient recognising and measuring angles, while working with fractions [for example: factors, multiples, factor trees, continuing patterns, adding and subtracting fractions] allowed them to apply their understanding with greater confidence.

The Specialist classes our students attend each week continue to provide them with skills that compliment their life in the classroom; we remain so grateful for the many opportunities our students are afforded in Art, Japanese, Phys Ed and Technology. We also love being able to spend time with our Buddies and refine our culinary skills in the Kitchen with Rosemary!

We remain greatly appreciative of the support you continue to give to your child and our school; we can’t wait for the adventures that Term 3 will bring!
