Principal Report

Oatlands from My Point of View

Matthew Kenny – Assistant Principal

Term 2 is almost compete and it is quite difficult to believe that we are already at the halfway mark of 2019. At this time of the year, I often think about our how far our Preps have come so far this year, socially, emotionally and academically, it is quite remarkable when you think back to February. I look at our Grade 3 students and how they have now reached the halfway point of their primary school journey, where did that time go. I also reflect on the journey our Grade 6 students have been on and the fact that they only have 6 months left with us before they make the huge leap to secondary college.

During these times of thought, I am reminded that time goes by very quickly. Which brings with it a sense of urgency around what we do here at Oatlands. The importance of making the most of every opportunity to help our student develop is brought into sharp focus. While all terms a very important, there can be different reasons for each term’s importance. In my opinion, Term 3 holds importance because it is term for some really hard work. After reports, parent teacher interviews and student led conferences, Term 3 provides a great opportunity to address areas of concern and enhance areas of strength, which is very exciting.

Well done to our entire Oatlands community for a great Term 2 and Semester 1. Thank you to our students, parents, teachers and everyone else involved in the learning journey of our students, thanks for all your hard work and support. Enjoy the holiday break and see you all refreshed, re-energised and ready to have a red hot go in a couple of weeks.
