Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for mathematics
The University of Sydney Introduction to Calculus MOOC gives students a second chance to meet the mathematics prerequisites required for entry into a range of courses from 2019.
You don’t need to be starting a degree this year to take the MOOC – you could still take the course (it’s around 40 hours to complete) if you’re worried about your math score, or just want to add some more math knowledge to your resume.

Victoria – Student Work Experience
Work experience is the short term placement of secondary school students, generally from Years 9 and 10, with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. Students are placed with employers primarily to observe and learn – not to undertake activities which require extensive training or expertise.

2019 Work Experience Program with the ABC
The ABC offer full-time and/or part-time placements with flexible starting dates in various areas such as Broadcasting/ TV Production, Journalism, Radio, Technical Production/ Sound Engineering, IT/ Technology and Marketing/Audiences.
High School students are accepted in some locations and departments, however priority is given to students studying a related discipline.

Bureau of Meteorology Work Experience for 2019
High school science students in Victoria could have the chance to gain first-hand experience about the Bureau of Meteorology.
Students can gain insight and experience into the Bureau’s everyday work, providing
reliable and responsive weather, climate and ocean services for Australia.
The Bureau’s Work Experience program is extremely competitive. Applications for 2019 are now open and successful participants will be notified by the end of March 2019

Australia National University Observatory Work Experience
The Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics at the ANU offers a limited number of work experience places to year 10, 11 and 12 students each year.
An opportunity to work on an astronomical project under the supervision of professional astronomers. Learn computing skills, attend departmental talks and will be talked with about university courses available and potential career paths. Subject to weather conditions and staff availability they are also usually invited to attend an evening stargazing session using the observatory’s outreach telescopes.
Local, interstate, and international students are invited to apply. However, students outside Canberra must organise and pay for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
Currently accepting applications for the 2019 work experience program, bear in mind positions are competitively sought.

Behind the Scenes Work Experience with SBS
An exciting opportunity for motivated year 10 and year 11 students to go behind the scenes and check out SBS’ Operations, programmes, exclusive filming and live shoots for a one week placement in 2019.
You’ll spend time in their television and radio divisions as well as watch live recordings of popular shows such as World News, The Feed and meeting each of the hosts. You’ll also get the opportunity to go on location with a camera crew and journalists to interview famous individuals and work in state-of-the-art studios.
