A message from our Deputy Principal - Head of Campus

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying:

‘Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger?”

I answered, ‘Here I am, send me.’ Isaiah 6:1-8

Complex and difficult questions can lead to conversations that can maybe of mixed blessings. These questions can excite us to think we, ordinary people, can be unexpectedly transformed and our untapped potential released. Or complex and difficult questions can leave us unmoved because we cannot see ourselves as candidates for anything remarkable.  I presented this concept to both staff and senior students this week via a Challenge. Will we see complex and difficult questions full of potential to lead to exciting debates, conversations and more knowledge or will we shy away for fear of not knowing how to tap into our potential to be remarkable agents of change.

Next week, Tuesday 19 February, we have our Welcome evening. This year, Year 7 students and parents will meet individually with their Learning Advisor to fully explore the best way in which to support the learning, growth and the untapped potential of their child. Whilst this is happening, parents and students of years 8 through to year 12 will have the opportunity to attend a critical seminar/workshop presented by the Bully Zero Foundation. Complex and difficult questions are certainly associated with the topic of Bullying. It is a topic that we all need to understand, discuss, and gain knowledge in order to deal with, reduce and work towards building a world free of Bullying and Cyberbullying in our schools, workplaces and communities. This seminar/workshop is not to be missed. It is hoped that, parents you will gain answers too many of the complex and difficult questions associated with Bullying. Please refer to our Facebook page and by clicking on Bully Zero.

You will have received an invitation to the Welcome Evening via the school email. Please ensure you reply with your acceptance to this event, for catering purposes. The Welcome evening (held at both campuses) is such an important event for all parents to attend. We look forward to sharing and learning together.

Therefore the challenge is to ask complex and difficult questions of each other on all topics including school work, so we can, be not afraid to engage in dynamic conversations that will release and develop our true potential.

So….Take Courage it is I, be not afraid.

Opening Mass

A beautiful, spiritual and inspiring mass was celebrated this week. As a campus we travelled to the Cranbourne Campus, where the Hall was transformed into a sacred space in which to share the Eucharist.  We are blessed to be able to take time to be in the moment with our Lord, to strengthen our Catholic commitment and reflect on the words of Father Denis as we are inspired to deepen our experience and love of St Peter. Thank you Father Denis for being the Rock that guides us to our Lord.

Looking forward to….

Over the next few weeks, my newsletter commentary will be directed by:

  1. The SRC – introduction of the 2019 team and their ambitions for the Campus and Community
  2. A selection of reflections from Year 7 & 12 students as well as some of our new students in years 8, 9 & 10.
  3. Welcome Evening feedback from parents and students
  4. The Swim Carnival and the introduction of the Rosemary Graham Shield 2019 (the ladder)

Reminders:

CareMonkey – please ensure you respond to all Caremonkey requests and update your child’s medical records. We do not want our students missing important and valuable excursions, sporting carnivals etc because their Caremonkey has not been completed.

After School Detentions are held on Tuesday (3.30 -4.30pm) and Friday (3.30pm-5.30pm). You will be notified by an email should your child need to attend and you will need to ensure travel arrangements home are organised. If there is an issue or concern regarding the detention please contact your child’s House Leader.

I wish you all a happy and productive week. I do look forward to sharing our Welcome evening with you all.
