1/2E Rachel Wong

Grade 1/2s are learning all about Values in Inquiry.  We are learning about how people have personal and shared values that may be different to our own and that values shape who we are and how we view things.

Last week, we talked about learning and what makes a good learner. We found that good learners aren’t just people who are good at maths or writing. Here is what we found that good learners do:

  • Challenge themselves and never give up
  • Always try their best
  • Good Learners ask for help when they need it
  • Help others in their learning
  • Stay focused on their learning tasks
  • Listens to instructions
  • Uses quality presentation
  • Show respect to others and their belongings
  • Have a growth mindset

3/4D Dylan Haeusler

In 3/4D, we have focused on creative writing by exploring poetic devices including imagery, repetition, rhyme and rhythm and alliteration to improve our poetic craft. We used these devices to create many different peoms that are structured like a Tanka poem, or unstructured like our Found Poetry.

We created Found Poems, by analysing popular books and pieces of writing. We looked for words that are beautiful, interesting and make you want to read them again and again. We used these words to inspire our writing. Here are a few examples of what we created. Enjoy!
