In the Classroom...

What a Great Start!

It has been wonderful seeing all of the children so settled in their new classes this year. All classes have started the year with our AGPS start-up program. In this program, we focus on ensuring that everyone in the school understands what it means to BE LIKE KEFAR. We prioritise the building of relationships, expectations, routines and dispositions that are essential to ensuring that 2020 is a highly successful year. Lessons during the program have included developing an understanding of the importance of having a growth mindset and understanding that learning can feel difficult and it takes effort. All the classroom routines and expectations have been established to ensure that learning time is maximised in every lesson, every day.

STEM has started!

STEM has started with so much excitement from the children over the last three weeks. Preps have been exploring and constructing, 1/2s have been using equipment to develop towns and creating shelters for STEM island and the 3-6s have worked collaboratively to solve challenges. This week the 3/4s helped Rapunzel escape from the tower and the 5/6s started designing and budgeting for their marble runs next week. It has been wonderful seeing all the students designing, exploring and creating together!

A special thanks to all the families that have brought in equipment to support our program. It is really appreciated.

Art & P.E.

Our Art program has started off beautifully and the students have already created some wonderful artwork - I am sure you have been impressed by what they have brought home so far! Pennie has done a great job putting up displays in our corridors - come and have a look!

It has also been busy in P.E. this year. We have already had visitors running hockey and cricket clinics with our students and have just completed our try-outs for swimming. Our 5/6 students are currently training in their chosen sports for the upcoming interschool sports carnivals and our first running club was also really well attended by students and parents.
