Focus on Learning

Remote Learning in Term 2

Thank you for your support during these very uncertain times. We understand the pressure and difficulties that some of you are experiencing learning from home. Please understand we are continuing to work very hard to ensure our Remote Learning Platform is very clear and easy to understand, therefore supporting our parents and carers to work with their child from home. This week we have sent home our Term 2 Remote Learning Support Pack.  In response to your feedback, we have modified our approach and have tried to be more realistic around the expectations of families working remotely. We have based our remote learning platform on the following principles:

Week 1 focuses on the ‘how’ of remote learning and aims to set our parents/carers, students and teachers up for success when learning online.

The learning program will be 2-3 hours of quality work per day.

Learning happens in a time frame that suits your family. Our timetable is flexible.

We have a major focus on English, Mathematics and Religious Education.

Students are encouraged to engage in brain breaks to promote physical health and wellbeing.

Regular live conferencing via Zoom will be used by teachers to engage small groups of students in rich learning conversations.

One of the tasks this week was to learn about eSafety. This has been completed to ensure that our students have an understanding of how to stay safe online. We must say that we are very impressed with the level of engagement from all our students and would like to share some of our fantastic eSafety houses. We are very happy to continue receiving these eSafety houses and will happily share some more work samples in next weeks newsletter. Thank you for your ongoing support.
