Building a Culture of Learning Together

Dear Families,

We have certainly hit the ground running in 2020 with our students and staff already collaborating on what is sure to be an exciting and engaging term of learning at St. Anthony's.  Our staff greatly values the strong, positive relationships that they have with their students and so the early days of the school year have centered on teachers getting to know each student in their class and what motivates them to learn.

At St Anthony’s we are driven by a deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning.  To create the conditions for effective learning, teachers have also been working closely with their students to develop a 'Learning Culture Statement' which speaks to the beliefs, values and aims of each class.  This statement is pivotal in providing both a vision and a set of expectations that all learners commit to which helps to foster a rich and positive classroom climate.  Empirical evidence shows that when school members feel safe, valued, cared for, engaged and respected, learning measurably increases. We are looking forward to sharing these statements with you in the coming week.

Term Overviews

Our teaching staff are in the process of finalising the Term Overviews for each of the year groups.  These will be sent out to families at the beginning of next week so that families are aware of the learning focus for each curriculum area in Term One as well as key dates and timetabled events.  If you have any questions regarding the learning in the classroom, or your child’s learning, please direct your queries to your child’s teacher.

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead,
