Head of Senior School Report

From Mr Kennedy

It has been a chaotic, yet exciting few weeks in the Senior School as we hurtle towards the end of another productive school year. The highlight of last month was our wonderful farewell assembly for this year's Year 12 students. It was truly remarkable to see the emotion evident in the students, teachers and parents alike as the tears flowed during the beautifully prepared goodbye speeches from the graduating students. The respect and love evident from the entire school community, who had gathered for the occasion, was testament to the genuine relationships we are so proud to foster here a Cobram AGS. The assembly was preceded by the traditional sleepover, cooked breakfast and 'muck up morning' which was a lot of fun for all those involved, especially those brave enough to experience the 'Darkened hall of horror'. The Principal Mr Gale, the Year 12's homeroom teacher Ms Doyle and myself took the students out to lunch at the Top Pub after the assembly before they left the school for the last time in the Cobram AGS uniform. At time of writing the Year 12's are in the middle of the final stage of their journey as the exam period is well underway. We wish them all the best and are very proud of their efforts!

In other Senior School news the 2020 leadership positions are well on their way to being finalised before our leaders make their way to the GRIP leadership conference in Albury on November 13. We have held ballots for our House Leaders already and the School Captain speeches and subsequent election will take place at a special assembly on Wednesday morning. Please feel free to come along and witness our wonderful crop of candidates state their case for School Captain in 2020. We will be making some exciting announcements with regard to these positions as soon as the final counting for the captains is complete.

In further developments we have finalised our subject offerings for VCE students in 2020 and are very excited to be able to offer more subjects than ever before. We have a fantastic array of classes highlighting the breadth of VCE study available to students who wish to pursue educational excellence in an environment as pastoral and inclusive as ours. We are very much looking forward to guiding our next cohort of VCE students through the challenges of the final years of schooling!
