Religious Education Update

During the last 2 weeks of term 2, the RE sphere team gathered together to brainstorm ideas for Holy Week. Ms Victoria volunteered to teach the children from each class to do a Tableau (frozen image) from one station of the cross. The images are very powerful! Students did a superb job at displaying the emotions for each station.

Hopefully children will return back to school for St Anthony’s day in June. We have planned a lot of activities during the week of St Anthony’s Feast Day. The community engagement sphere group and RE team will work together to create a “Catholic Identity” walk where students will learn about the different Catholic symbols and symbolic areas around our school and church. E.g St Anthony’s garden, statues etc… This will hopefully happen during the week of St Anthony’s Feast Day. On Friday the 12th of June, Miss Lim has organised a range of cultural activities for students to enjoy (African drumming, Zumba etc…)

The Parish Sacramental program has put all meetings and celebrations and the program  on hold until further notice.

In term 1 teachers continued to work through the three step design thinking approach to Faith Based Inquiry:

Explore with immersions and provocations

Expose students to new ideas, let them ask questions and investigate

Create a solution and put their ideas into practice

As part of Faith Based Inquiry we had planned for classes to visit AgeWell aged care facility to engage students in the community (these were postponed due to COVID 19, hoping to recommence with these once things have settled down)

Although learning has changed slightly in Faith Based Inquiry since the commencement of online and remote learning, teachers are still encouraging their students to be actively involved by giving them the opportunity to complete tasks in Religious Education, Science, Geography, History and the Capabilities.

Our School Prayer

Generous God, we ask God to guide us in our journey to grow, learn and flourish together in harmony.

Watch over the people in our community. Give them strength and keep them safe and healthy.

Thank you for giving us the gift of each other and for our classmates who are always helpful to us.

Help us all to show respect always.

Thank you for creating our families and friends so differently.

Guide us in our work and play and help us to remember that every day is a brand new day.
