Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 6

Welcome to our fourth web-based newsletter. We hope people are finding it easier to navigate the information contained and to view the images. At the bottom of the page is a Translation button which is a useful features for some of our readers.

As a community we wish Brendan a full recovery from his medical procedure (sinus related) and look forward to his return to school next week.

Over these past two weeks, we have seen many changes already in the courtyard area as workers prepare to pour concrete for the foundation of our new learning areas.

A reminder concrete is being poured tomorrow morning (Friday 23rd August) where numerous trucks will be involved and we recommend parents leave the carpark as soon as possible.  A Flexibuzz message was sent out on Tuesday,

If you would like to see plans and designs, there are images of the new building project and a colour board displayed in the Office foyer.

The students have been terrific with their awareness and safety regarding  the build.

School Closure Day

A few weeks ago, staff participated in a professional development day off site. We had the opportunity to reflect on our own faith, faith of the Church and faith within the school community. It was a valuable day and we are thankful to staff for leading the day and for participating in all activities.

Rubbish Free Lunches

A reminder that Wednesdays are our Rubbish- Free lunch days.  We acknowledge that this can sometimes mean more work for parents. We thank you for your efforts in working with us to help our children better understand the importance of looking after our earth and reducing landfill.

Sacrament of Confirmation

This week we congratulate our students who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is an opportunity to complete the rite of initiation in the Catholic Church. We have Episcopal Vicar Fr Brendan Hayes and Fr John Magri leading these ceremonies. We continue to keep the children in our thoughts and prayers, asking the Holy Spirit to strengthen and guide them.

Spirit gently come.

Spirit gently come into my heart.

Here I am your servant.

Fill me with faith and hope.

Help me spread your word to all,

Guide me as I go.

I will always follow you,

but I need help for love to grow.

Fill me with your Spirit,

so I do not stand alone.

A special thank you to families and staff who continue to support these children on their faith journey.

Clare O'Neil MP

We welcomed Clare O'Neil to our school on Tuesday morning. She is the Federal Parliament Member for the district of Hotham. Clare presented the school with a set of new flags - National Australian Flag, Australian Aboriginal Flag and Torre Strait Islands Flag.

Term 3 Footy Fundraiser

For the last 4 weeks of Term 3, the school will be raising money for the John Moriarty Football Fund. This charity brings Indigenous youth together through sport, promoting good health and well being.

Starting next Monday 26th August, each grade will have small pots in their classroom that will have a label with their footy team emblem on the front. We are asking students and families to bring coins to school to support their footy team, and ultimately the JMF charity. At the end of each week, the class and football team who have raised the most money, will be announced at assembly. The final tally will be announced in the final week of school. Let the fund raising begin! We hope to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause!
