Messages from Mr Andrew Butler

The Sacrament of Confirmation Program has commenced in the St Agatha's Parish.

Receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, the relationship with God is made stronger. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are strengthened: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. In this way the Confirmation Candidates are equipped to become a better witness to Christ in the world.

 

Bishop Greg Bennet (Bishop of Sale) will be the celebrant of the Sacrament of Confirmation. During the celebration of Confirmation the bishop extends his hands over those to be confirmed and calls upon God: “Send your Holy Spirit upon them to be their helper and guide.”

 

Then each person to be confirmed is anointed with chrism on the forehead as the bishop says, “Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.”

 

In Confirmation the Confirmation candidates become more closely united with Christ. With the strengthening of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit the Christian is able to accept new responsibilities for witnessing Jesus to the world.

 

We pray for all the Year 6 Confirmation candidates as they embark upon the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Many young people are still suffering the long-term consequences of the pandemic, such as social isolation, uncertainty, and loss.Parents can play an important role in their children's mental health. Creating a safe and open environment for your children to talk about their emotions, thoughts, and feelings is vital. 

 

Encouraging healthy habits like regular exercise, a balanced diet, and proper sleep can help reduce their stress levels and boost your child's overall mental health. There are also many resources and services available to children, adolescents, and their families, such as school counsellors, various mental health organisations, support lines, and of course, mental health professionals. 

 

It is important to remember that seeking help is a show of strength, not weakness, and that early intervention is critical in addressing young people's mental health difficulties.This edition of SchoolTV, discusses some of the major mental health issues affecting young people and how to support a child experiencing them.
