Grandparents & Special Persons Day
1 week until Grandparents and VIP day!
All grandparents and surrogate grandparents, you are warmly invited to visit Kinder-Year 6 students on Friday 8th September. For catering purposes, please RSVP to events@bhcs.vic.edu.au.
We can't wait to have our VIP's visit next week - the choir have been practicing, we've been preparing classrooms and making yummy things for morning tea!
Above all, the students are VERY excited to show our visitors their classrooms, spend some time together and share a picnic lunch. If you haven't RSVP'd, please do so ASAP so we can cater for you.
Finally, we are expecting over 200 visitors on the day, and we need to find a few more people willing to help with car parking and serving morning tea. If you are able to help (you're more than welcome to stay for the activities too!) please let me know sjkelly@bhcs.vic.edu.au.
Year 9/10 Information Night
We would like to invite you to our upcoming Year 9/10 Information Night. The night is aimed at providing parents with information relating to Years 9 and 10 for 2018.
This will be held in the Multi-Purpose Hall on Wednesday, 13 September at 6.50pm.
Information covered on the night will include: Year 9 and Year 10 Programs, Camps, Core Subjects, Elective choices for 2018, Year 9 Community Service and Year 10 Careers and Work Experience.
Elective choice forms for Semester 1, 2018 will be handed out on the night. The number of places in some elective classes is limited.
Elective places are allocated on a first-in, first-placed basis.
We strongly encourage all families to attend the night to ensure they can make an informed decision.
Ping Pong-a-Thon 2017
Last year, BHCS participated in our first ever 24 hour Ping Pong-a-Thon event where we played table tennis with the school community for 24 hours non-stop!! The event aims to raise money and awareness for organisations who are fighting to prevent slavery in many forms. Our 2016 event raised $5000, which was such an amazing effort and we're so grateful for our community getting behind us!
This year, we're back and hoping to be bigger and better than ever! We've designed a program with lots of opportunities for all members of our community to join in and play some Ping Pong!
Here's the plan:
Friday October 13th - Ping Pong-a-Thon Program
7am - 8:45 BBQ launch breakfast (staff and VCE students)
8:45 - 3:30 Classes playing throughout the day. Activities during recess and lunchtime too (all students)
1:45 - 5:15 Ladies High Tea. 2 sessions, ladies over 18 (Mums, staff and other women in the community)
3:30 - 5:30 Family Frenzy. Activities, games and all ages fun! (Anyone welcome)
5:30 - 9pm Dads and Lads. Competitions, prizes, pizza dinner provided. (Dads and Sons)
9 - 11pm Twighlight Session (male VCE students and staff)
11pm - 7am Hardcore Finale (male staff)
The bold sessions are those we'd love you as our BHCS families to get involved with! So keep the date free, and start getting those Pong skills up to scratch!
There will be more information to come regarding all the exciting activities planned for the day that we would love to have everyone involved in but for now, we are putting the call out to any businesses (local or larger) who might be willing to partner with BHCS in some way as we aim to raise money for this worthwhile cause.
We are seeking physical donations of goods or vouchers that can be used for prizes or the silent auction. Any financial donations would also be gratefully received.
In return for your donation we would like to work with you to publicly acknowledge your support - through our presentations on the day, putting your logo on our signage and on social media.
We are very grateful for any way you can assist us to draw together our community and fight for this great cause!
If you or someone you know might be interested in finding out more information we would love to hear from you. Please email Sarah Kelly - sjkelly@bhcs.vic.edu.au
Thanks!
