Year 2 / 4

In class this week we have been writing persuasive texts. Everyone was most persuasive in writing about their selected topic using very emotive and impactful words.  Lizzie tried to convince us that English is better than Maths, Cooper and Gwynn were convincing in arguing that too much screen time is not good and Pippa argued that movies are more enjoyable than books. We all read 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears' and then had to write a letter of apology or concern on behalf of Goldilocks or one of the bear family. We had a  few laughs with some of the fantasy arguments.

Wednesday Drama lessons have proved very popular. This week we had to work collaboratively and act out a tv cooking show. Its wonderful to see the children's imagination and acting skills getting a work out.

Maths classes have focussed on accurate time work and division strategies. Families at home can help by asking children to tell the time using a clock face rather than digital devices.

The Year 4 students have also begun a new maths program called JEMM. This is an intensive program done in gradual stages looking at 15 key maths questions each lesson.

Children listen carefully, consolidate and learn new skills with the goal of improving on their previous results.

Dear Goldy,

Please return to our home! I know it isn’t tempting because we are big scary bears, but please listen to these reasons.

Firstly, we were only being loud because you just walked into our house without asking! And according to you, you were sleeping soundly until a group of angry bears came and woke you. So we both have our own reasons to feel awkward, but if you came over to our cottage, we could talk things over in peace.

My oldest son, George, loved your visit! You saved his life, as he is allergic to honey porridge. Also, the bed was warm from body heat, so he slept soundly that night.

In addition to that, we like to clean our tile floor with mud. It is good for your skin, fur, and floor! Your tracking mud into our house saved us having to get our paw-fur dirty. Please do this amazing this again!

Lastly, you saved us having to break the chair ourselves. We really needed more wood for our fire, and that chair was wooden. None of us wanted to break it, and you’ve saved us the trouble! Thanks!!! (George was needing a larger on, anyway.)

I know it’s still not tempting, but we would love to have you.

Sincerely, Mummy Bear xxoo   (Lizzie C Yr 4)
