Child Safety

St Agatha's is committed to providing a Child Safe school environment where the whole child is nurtured. As teachers, we are mandated to report all disclosures of child abuse, including physical, emotional and sexual. Policies and procedures are developed to assist schools and teachers in meeting their Child Safe obligations.

Child Safe Standard 9

Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed

All parents received a copy of the Digital Learning Policy at the recent Parent/Teacher conversations. If you have not already signed the ICT User Agreement, please do so at your earliest convience.

Being safe online is really important for our children's wellbeing. It is important that all children learn from a young age how to be safe online and what to do if they encounter issues while online at home or at school.

We encourage all families to check their children's settings and make sure that they do not have unlimited access to digital media. Apps to ensure have parent restrictions on are YouTube, SnapChat, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok etc. All the apps mentioned have an age restriction of 13+.

If your child is experiencing cyberbullying please reach out to your child's classroom teacher who may be able to assist. You can also report all cyberbullying instances to the E-Safety Commissioner and/or Police.

Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy

The Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy has been updated to reflect practices that encourage student voice. This includes students participating in Class Meetings where they can raise issues that concern them both on the playground and in the classroom. The issues are discussed as a class and the students with their teachers work to find solutions.

Our Child Safe Champion - Mr Doherty will meet with a student representative from each class (Years 3-6) to listen to the issues that had been discussed and their solutions. Mr Doherty can also ask the representatives to take important Child Safety messages back to their classrooms.
