Building Update - Connected to community

I have requested that the VSBA send a community update about the build project, however, to date I have not received this information. As soon as we have it, I will share with the community. To the best of my knowledge, they are still aiming for a November handover. I am seeking clarification on when we will get access to the Year 2 playground and oval but unfortunately have not had a revised date given to me.

Community Engagement Around School Times - We are here for the students

I would like to open a discussion with the school community around our 9.00am-3.30pm school hours which seem to be for historical reasons. As ‘we are here for the students’, the school will be investigating a number of options around school times and sharing these with the community for consideration. Currently, it is clear to the school that children today do not have the stamina to maintain social relationships for our existing break times and an improved educational timetable could provide better outcomes for students. However, I must stress these are only preliminary discussions. Further evidence needs to be gathered. Running two timetables this year due to the building project has challenged us to question the existing status quo.

Kingswood’s Camping Programs

I would like to thank all of our dedicated teachers for participating in camps this year. Under new working conditions, unfunded camps pose a major threat to the delivery of these experiences. To the best of my knowledge, many other schools have pared back or totally cancelled these experiences in their entirety. Whilst we continue to monitor our camping program this year, it can’t be ignored that it is only through our teacher’s commitment and flexibility that ‘we are here for the students’ for us to provide such an extensive camping program which tend to be the highlight for children each year.

Mother’s Day Breakfast - Connected to community

What a fabulous event hosted by our wonderful Parents Association with food supplied by Oscar’s Hangout. Our school choirs performed a number of songs for our mothers and students. I would like to thank the following people for helping to set up the night before and helping on the day. Thank you to Jodie W, Kerrie S, David W, Linh and Tuan, Nicola B, Susie S, Kaylene, Kathryn H, Natasha S, Dorit P, Kimy H, Aneshree M, Sunil K, Andrew Y, Matthew G, Dhani C, Adrian A, Jamie P, An D, Matthew G, Dinesh K, Nathan P, Dorit, Natasha, David A, Joey G, David A, Melissa D and for any others accidentally missed.
