JUNIOR SCHOOL
Dear Junior School Parents/Carers and Students
Our Junior School students have had a busy start to term, both within and beyond the classroom. Year 8 Geography classes have been visiting the Melbourne Zoo to undertake fieldwork, investigating rainforests and the animals that live within them. Year 7 Drama classes attended an incursion on Thursday 4 May showcasing the theatre style of melodrama and are currently analysing and reviewing the performance. And, despite the rainy conditions, all Year 7 and 8 students participated in Cross Country during Sport Education on Monday 8 May and Wednesday 10 May with some fantastic results. Thank you to our teachers for organising these opportunities for our students!
Our Junior School Team is currently finalising the process to appoint Years 7 and 8 Class Captains. These leaders will collaborate regularly to discuss and improve students’ experiences at school and work closely alongside Year Level Coordinators and Heads of Year.
It is also great to see many of our Years 7 and 8 students being awarded House Points for positive behaviours and involvement in extracurricular activities. Recently Macy, Miro, Ava and Christian (Year 7) were recognised with house points for their contributions to our annual School Tours, speaking to large groups of prospective parents/carers and students and cofacilitating tours with members of our Leadership Team. We look forward to many more students being recognised throughout the year and seeing which house takes out the overall title for 2023!
The Junior School Team will also be conducting uniform blitzes over the course of the remainder of term. Students and parents/carers must be familiar with the school’s Uniform Policy and students are reminded that they must present to the Junior School Office before the school day for a Uniform Pass in the event they are unable to wear full and complete uniform, supported by a note from a parent/carer.
