Arts & Technology Update

Year 9 Contemporary Art

The new Year 9 subject of Contemporary Art was off to a running start with students exploring Photoshop for digital collage.  Students combined an assortment of images representing identity in carefully planned compositions.

After completing research about digital artists such as Julian Opie and David Hockney, students broadened their Photoshop skills by creating a digital painting of a still-life composition.  These artworks, based on their own observation drawings, show the development of students’ own creative styles.

In the more practical unit of the Contemporary Arts course, students used digital cameras to capture photographs by controlling lighting, camera angles, and subject matter.  These photographs were then manipulated in Photoshop to create final artworks.
