Hello, from Carolyn.

Hello everyone,

Welcome back everyone for Term 2. It's always lovely seeing all the smiling faces coming through the gates with lots of excited chatter as students, and adults, catch up with friends. Another busy term is ahead of us with 5/6 camp, Education week 'Special person' afternoon and Family BBQ, curriculum day, Foundation information evening and report writing!

Case of measles in our Foundation/1 classrooms.

We have been notified that one of our Foundation students has been diagnosed with measles. The Department of Health recommends that unimmunised contacts should be excluded until 14 days after the first day of appearance of the rash. The student was at school on Monday and has been absent since. Please visit   https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/conditionsandtreatments/measles for more information about measles. If you are concerned about your child’s health, please see your medical practitioner.

Education Week 15-19 May.

Monday 15th, 9am School tours for prospective Foundation families.

Thursday 18th, 2:10pm Special Person afternoon. Our students will be inviting someone special to come and visit them in their classroom.

Thursday 18th, 3:10pm-5:30pm Family BBQ organised by our Parents & Friends group.

5/6 Camp, 8-10 May.

I am looking forward to heading off on camp with our 5/6 students, Jacinta Condon and Jason Bentley. Camps are such a great way to get to know each other away from school and also give many of our students opportunities to showcase strengths they have that we might not see at school. Our students are very fortunate that our teachers and ES staff value our camps program and are keen to support it.

No lunch orders on Wednesdays.

A reminder that there are no regular lunch orders this term. We will do our best to organise lunch orders every now and again however our regular lunch order providers are unable to do lunch orders this term.

Staffing update.

Sebastian Smith is our Grade 2/3D teacher for Term 2. Seb is a regular replacement teacher at our school so already knows many of the students in the grade, which has made for an easy transition. I have heard from Sonia and she is feeling fit and well and getting excited for 'birth' day!

Parents and Friends update.

We now have a Parents and Friends page in our newsletter so you can keep in touch with how to support the group, our students and school. The first event being organised is a Family BBQ on Thursday 18th May, 3:10pm-5:30pm. Keep an eye out for more information and how you can let us know if you will be attending.

We will also be sending out a link to a short survey where you can let us know "Just one thing" you are able to do to support our students and school, and help us to rebuild and reinvigorate our Parents and Friends group.

Term 2 Goal setting meetings.

Bookings will open on Wednesday 3rd May for these meetings. Having regular meetings with students, parents/carers and teachers is the best way to build a positive home/school partnership, to discuss how a child is going with their learning, get on top of concerns quickly, celebrate great learning and have clear learning goals for the term ahead. I encourage you all to make a time to meet with your child/ren's teachers.

We won't have Parent/teacher interviews at the end of this term but will hold Term 3 Goal setting meetings early term 3.

warm regards,

Carolyn.
