PLAYGROUP POSTPONED
Thank you to the families who attended our Playgroup session this week. It's wonderful to see more families attending and we look forward to its continued growth.
From Monday 22 May to Monday 5 June, (weeks 5-7), I will be on Pilgrimage to Croatia and Italy so there will be no playgroup. Playgroup will return on Monday 12 June with lots of fun activities planned. We hope to see you there!
SPaR Reflection: God Comes to Women.
For those who couldn't attend our first SPaR session for parents, our reflection was focused on the way that God is present to women in a special way, through the gift of their motherhood. Here is a short video reflection. If you were unable to attend, but would like to receive the gift pack, please email me
The Miracle of Confession
In June, our year 3 students will experience the Sacrament of Reconciliation, what we often call 'confession'. It's a wonderful and still somewhat hidden gift that the Church offers to all Catholics. This sacrament teaches us the importance of extending forgiveness to others and being accountable for our actions. In our children, it offers a profound understanding of love, compassion, and personal responsibility.
Some people may feel uncomfortable about teaching children about the concept of 'sin'. But sin is essentially just a choice that lacks love. It is through this understanding that children begin to grasp the significance of their actions and the impact they have on others. By teaching them about sin as a choice devoid of love, we empower them to make conscious decisions that align with values such as kindness, empathy, and respect.
Fostering a love for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in children holds immeasurable beauty and benefits. When children embrace the sacrament and develop a love for Reconciliation, they experience the freedom that comes from letting go of guilt and shame. They understand that God's love is infinite and that they can always begin anew.
If you would like to learn more about this sacrament, here is a great short video by
American Priest, Fr Mike Schmitz that you might enjoy.
