Principal's Message
I have returned from my pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Rome and Assisi. It was a surreal experience to be transported in time to a place that we hear or read of so often and to find yourself physically on the same land as Jesus lived. The Holy Land pilgrimage was perfect combination of the old and the new, the past and the future, the physically beautiful and spiritually uplifting. It is the center of the three monotheist religious traditions; Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which are all inextricably linked to one another.
With more than 30 Sydney Catholic Schools Principals and Assistant Principals - together with Jacinta Collins and Executive Director of the National Catholic Education Commission, Dallas McInerney Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Schools NSW. Led by Archbishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher OP, the pilgrimage was a valuable opportunity to engage, share and deepen my faith.
How was your day?
As parents, one of the most helpful partnerships that we can have with the school is to know what our children are doing and learning at school during the day. Year overviews, What’s Happening, Facebook and Compass posts help us out a little but of course hearing from our children about their day is the most helpful.
This is not always as easy as it sounds though! I think parents all agree that helping our children tell us about their school day can sometimes be quite challenging and we can often be met with one word responses. This can be that you are all in a rush to get to after school activities, your child is tired, hungry or not in the mood to answer questions after school or that you are not able to speak with them until you have returned home from your own work.
The following open-ended questions might help you to find out more about your child’s day:-
- What was your favourite part of your day, and why?
- What made you laugh today?
- What did you do at lunchtime?
- Who did you have the most fun with, and why?
- What’s something you learnt that you didn’t know before?
- What are you looking forward to about tomorrow?
- What did you do that made you feel proud today?
- What did your teacher do that was funny?
- What made you really happy today?
Tell Them From Me® (TTFM®)
As we continue to focus on school effectiveness, we are excited to announce that our school will be participating in the Tell Them From Me® (TTFM®) online survey. This survey aims to gather valuable feedback from parents, staff, and students about school life, engagement levels, and staff interactions. The survey has been used by schools in Australia and around the world to improve their practices. We encourage all staff, parents, and students to take the time to participate in this survey, which will be available over the next few weeks.
Students from years 4 to 6 will complete the survey during regular school hours. All participants will be provided with a random username and password to ensure complete anonymity. The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. While participation in the survey is voluntary, we believe that it will provide us with important data to improve our practices and ensure that we work together as a thriving Catholic community.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in our school community.
