If you would like your child to purchase something from our stall, gifts will range from $2 to $15 and the students will be able to spend up to a maximum of $25. Please bring along a small bag to take their gifts home in.

The stall will be open from 9:30am-3:00pm both days and your child will be allocated a time to attend the stall with their grade. Stay tuned for more information from your classroom teacher.

Swimming

It is nearly time for the Year One and Two students to go swimming! Information about the Swimming Program has been sent out. We would love to see every student participate in this wonderful program.

We require 2 parent helpers per class so if you are interested in helping out, please let us know your availability on the link below and we will schedule a roster. You must have a valid working with children's check and will be travelling on the bus with the students.

Please use the link below to fill in your availability.

Mont De Lancey Excursion

In Week 7, Year Two will be visiting Mont De Lancey which is a historical homestead located in Wandin North.

On the excursion we will visit the museum, watch a Blacksmith at work, look through an old house and play some olden day games. We will attend an olden day school on the premises with a very strict teacher!

Over the next couple of weeks, please start thinking about what your child can wear to this excursion because we are asking for all children and parent helpers to be dressed up in olden days clothes eg. shawl, long dress/ skirt, shirt (with braces), shorts or knee length socks with shoes if you don't want to wear boots. It will be cold so remember to dress warmly. Remember to pack a water bottle, snack and lunch are required too in a small backpack. Please email your classroom teacher if you would like to assist as a parent helper on this day (Working With Children Card required).

Inquiry

To further investigate life in the past, the Year Two students will experience baking bread and making butter the old-fashioned way in Week 4. We have listed the ingredients below so you can make some bread at home for your family to enjoy too:

Bread:

  • 1 ½ cups lukewarm water
  • 3 ¼ cups unbleached flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 7 grams instant yeast
  • Baking paper

 Butter:

  • 1 medium sized jar (500ml)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (38% fat content)
  • cold water
  • sieve
  • 2 bowls
  • Marble

We will assume every student will participate in this activity so there is no need to email your teacher to confirm. This is an opt-out activity so if you don’t want your child to participate due to allergies etc, please contact your classroom teacher.

ICAS Testing

Year Two students are welcome to enter the ICAS competition, an online academic competition that will help you develop your critical thinking skills and challenge your knowledge in different areas. More information including how to enter your child can be found on the school website and in The Nurlendi News. If you have any questions regarding ICAS then please direct them to your classroom teacher.
