From The Principals

Important updates from Mrs Mann, Mrs Cook & Mrs Strachan

Welcome back to Term 2 everyone! We are so looking forward to another fantastic term of learning and friendship here at school and kinder! This term is a short one, with only 9 weeks finishing on Friday 23rd of June. We have two camps this term, as well as swimming for our Year 1 and 2 students, and our upcoming School Review. We also have reports coming out to you at the end of term! What a lot to cram into 8 more weeks!

We are so pleased that so many families and friends are reading our newsletter, and we would love to be able to share with the wider community all the amazing things that are happening in our school and kindergarten. From next issue, we will be placing a link to read the newsletter on the school website. Any students who do not have permission to be photographed are excluded from images in the newsletter, and teachers are careful to not include surnames in publications without permission.

Did you know that the newsletter is also able to be translated into a number of different languages?  You can select your preferred language from the tab on the bottom left of the page!

Community Network Update

Mother's Day Stall

Next week, we are so excited to be holding a Mother's Day Stall on Tuesday and Wednesday. Each class will have time to go along to the stall and purchase something to celebrate all the special Mum's and other significant Mother figures in our lives. We thank the Community Network who have worked so hard to ensure there is a range of products at different prices for students to select from. Please check out the flier with examples of gifts on the Community Noticeboard page.

Morning Tea

The Community Network will also be providing our parents an opportunity to have a quick coffee and a chat on the morning of Monday 15th May. This will be held in the stadium foyer straight after the school assembly. If you are available, we look forward to seeing you there.

New uniform item

This year, we have introduced a new puffer jacket to the student uniform options available from PSW Uniforms in Croydon. Last year, we surveyed parents about different options for student winter coats, and a puffer jacket style was the most popular. These are now available for purchase for $77.50. The jackets look great (as modeled below by Alfie from Year 1), and are super warm.

We remind everyone to please clearly name all articles of clothing. There are many jumpers and jackets that make their way to lost property every day, some not ever making their way back to their owners!

2023 Semester One Academic Reports

Semester One Reports will be published to Sentral on Friday 23rd June 2023. You will be able to download your child’s report from Sentral and save it to your personal device. This will allow you the opportunity to choose to print it or keep a digital copy for future reference. This semester, the progression of learning will be shown in subject areas reported to previously.

For some students, they may have arrived at school with limited skills and little exposure to the English language, even if they were born in Australia. They may take time to develop the skills and knowledge outlined. As a result, they are monitored and assessed learning English as their additional language.

Table Tennis Club

We have had an inquiry from a table tennis club to run after school sessions for students in our Stadium. This would only be for VPS students, and would be run by accredited table tennis coaches. This would be a paid, extra-curricular activity open to students from Foundation to Year 6. If your child would be interested in participating, please indicate below so we can get an idea if this is a viable option.
