Year 9 Outdoor Ed

Anglesea, Torquay Camp

Recently, the Year 9 Outdoor Education students were given the opportunity to participate in bodyboarding, surfing, a coastal walk, rock climbing and abseiling, while on a three-day camp at Anglesea and Torquay. These activities promoted personal development (self-esteem, independence, leadership, co-operation, respect, resilience and determination), teamwork, and environmental awareness as well as fun and safety in the outdoors.

The students increased their knowledge and awareness about coastal environments, surf safety and the history of surfing which lead to an increased awareness of the place of humans in the natural world, emphasising inter-relationships with natural systems.
