Welcome to St Anne's College
In this edition of il giornale, we continue to introduce you to the new team members who have joined us this year - Office Manager Jo Alper, Visual Arts Learning Mentor Mark Almond and Religious Education Leader Elizabeth Holligan.
Jo Alper
Hi everyone, my name is Jo Alper and I commenced as Office Manager in March. Prior to joining the St Anne's team, I worked at St Brendan's Primary School as an Administration Officer for 13 years.
In my free time I love spending time with my family and friends, going on long walks with our dog and doing Pilates.
I am thrilled to be working at St Anne's and I look forward to developing my skills and meeting more of our community throughout the year.
Mark Almond
Hi everyone, my name is Mark Almond and I am very excited to be teaching Visual Arts in the School of Wonder and School of Innovation in 2023. This is my first year at St Anne's College and I feel very privileged to be part of the college that has such a diverse community. Prior to joining the staff at St Anne's, I was teaching at St Brendan’s Primary School, Shepparton. I began teaching Visual Arts 14 years ago at St Brendan’s and over this time I have enjoyed watching students grow their creative skills and talents.
Outside of teaching, I am the father of four beautiful girls and I am a practising artist who also loves gardening. I am always drawing or painting and love to share my knowledge of the Visual Arts with anyone who is interested.
The time has flown by this term and I have enjoyed getting to know the students and my fellow colleagues. The St Anne's College community has been very welcoming and supportive and I am honoured to be part of the team. I am looking forward to fostering the talents of the students at St Anne's and engaging in new opportunities within the college. I am a Visual Arts specialist at St Anne's and love watching the students grow in their skill, sharing their artworks and their creative ideas.
Elizabeth Holligan
Hello beautiful people. I am Elizabeth Holligan and my role is St Anne’s College Religious Education Leader (REL) , Year 10 Religious Education and Humanities, VCE Legal Studies and VCE Religion and Society teacher, as well as Cooper House Pastoral Group Leader in the School of Possibilities.
Prior to starting at St Anne’s College this year, I was Director of Faith and Mission and Religious Education Leader, VCE Religion and Society and VCE Accounting teacher at Thomas Carr College in Tarneit from 2020 – 2022. At Galen Catholic College, Wangaratta, between 2009 and 2019 I held a variety of leadership positions, including Learning Leader in Humanities, Religious Education and Integrated Studies and teaching Years 7-12 in these areas, and I was at Marian College Myrtleford part-time from 2009-2010 as Assistant Business Manager. In the decade or so before entering teaching I worked as an accountant and auditor in private industry and education.
Religious Education is a passion for me, which led me to complete a Graduate Diploma in Religious Education followed by a Master of Theology. My experience across such a diverse area of curriculum has enabled me to work with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) in curriculum and study design development across multiple areas, and to then complete a Master of Educational Leadership, focusing on curriculum and integrated studies.
I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to join the St Anne’s College community as your REL this year to be part of your faith and educational journey. I love to learn new things and hope to share that lifelong love of learning with you and your children. I look forward to meeting with you.
