Fete Thankyous 2

Crepes

My thanks and appreciation to the Great Crepe Team Danni, Bert, Hamilton and Lovely Lola. Kept the stall going all day long.

But we could not have gotten through it without The Fat Spatulas help.

Thank-you to Derek and his team for saving the day (literally). Not only did they supply all the batter, but they also ended up making all our crepes in their kitchen, and bringing them over. They checked up on us all day to make sure we had crepes to sell. It was wonderful to see a community coming together to support our little school and making it a successful fete.

Marlene

Bar

We couldn’t have asked for a better day, or location, to host a refreshing drink under the shade of Bagang Magali garden.   Our guests enjoyed a full range of beer, wine, cocktails and mocktails while feasting on fabulous fete food, amongst our beautiful, shimmery, endangered grasslands planted and tended by Carlton north kids.

A special thanks goes to our,-

-VOLUNTEER CREW: Libby, Sarah, Mary, Tash, Beth, Justine, Dave, James, Ben and Justin.

- FETE SUPPORT TEAM: logistics, stall coordination, glass washing, finance and more.

One last thank you goes to an unplanned CNPS alumni helper, Aya, who supported the crew with setup, restocking glasses, replenishing ice, selling raffles tickets and pack up.

We hope Carlton North community enjoyed their visit to our watering hole as much as we did hosting!

Thanks, Annalise and Steve

Jams

Taking on Matt's amazing 12 year jam stall legacy was a daunting task and it is only with the outstanding help and support from everyone that we got there -  It was truly a team effort

To be able to put the jam stall on, we needed the products to sell and we had over 600 jars on the day and nearly sold them all!

Big thanks to the everyone that came to the jam making sessions at school - Erin, Michelle, Kylie, Jess, Renae and to all those that got making and donated - Erin, Kylie, Kathleen, Anne (my mum), Renae, Jess, Elle, Sally's mum, Prep grandparents, Julia and Emily.  It was lovely to see how much support the school has from all the generations, showing what a special school it is.  Thanks to those that donated jars, it meant that we had something to put the jam in.

Thanks to those that volunteered on the day, it was due to you that we were able to pull such a successful day off.  Thanks to Alice for her tireless efforts who was there for set-up and was essential to the beautiful display of the stall.  Alice was there at the end as well and ensured we were able to sell the remaining jars.

Thanks to Elle, Erin and Michelle who were there from the making stage and volunteered hours on the day.  Thanks to Bern for his enthusiasm to ensure no jar was left unsold and helped with packdown at the end.  Thanks to Kylie for her moral support along the way, her huge making effort and the sourcing of the beautiful ceramic jam spoons.  Thanks to Renae who has left the school and never got to run the jam stall with me because of the past few years.  Renae still came back and made things and helped with set-up.  Thanks to Paul  who helped with packdown and put up with our kitchen being turned over to  jam-making for many weeks.

Also thank you to everyone who came and bought things, it was a pleasure to see everyone and talk about all things jam and chutney!

Stage

Thank you so much to Brendan Wintle for being an amazing MC as always, Justin the sound engineer from Pink Noise and Charlie K for helping with the talent show.

Thankyou to all the talented students and ensembles who performed on the day. Thank you to  Rachel Sneddon for arranging the  ensembles. Thank you to our wonderful performers Henry and Casper Wagons, Elevation Dance Studios, Lucy Harrington, Jack McLean, Melbourne Dance Centre, Peter Riches, Frankie A, Charlie K, Archer K, Toby Cummings and Andrew Maddick.

Cakes and Goodies

The Cake Stall relies on the generosity of our school community  - I’m always amazed and so grateful to the talented and generous bakers in our school community who contribute their delicious goods to the Cake Stall. Without your generosity we simply wouldn’t have a Cake Stall - thanks to each and every one of you.

This year special thanks go to local baker Virginia from Vegana Tortas for donating so many delicious vegan treats. Also to Bec and her mum Chris Gullery from @cakesbychrissg2 for dozens of beautifully decorated cupcakes which brought smiles to the faces of everyone who saw them.

Thanks to Gaby & Trish for administrative support and lots of laughs throughout. Thanks to Bronwen Boerlage,  John Krbaleski, Paul Rothin and Seb Trinder-Rothin for help with stall setup and pack down.

Thanks to the team who’ve worked on the Fete Cake Stall over the years  - Emily Mottram, Emily Arnautovic, Ada Young, Rowan McRae. Thanks also to those as well as those who put their hand up to work on the Fete Cake Stall for the first time - Prim Moore, Erin Tibbitts, Lenice Murray, Natalia Brumley, Catherine Trundle and Ian Davidoff. The Cake Stall is popular and gets incredibly busy, yet everyone donned their aprons and staffed the Cake Stall on Fete Day with such enthusiasm and good humour.

Finally thanks to Janelle Farrelly and Vi Dimovski for their generous support in planning and preparation before the Fete as well working tirelessly from set-up through to pack-up on Fete Day and beyond. Janelle has been in the background quietly doing so much work for the Cake Stall over the years, and more recently Vi has helped so much with our Election Day Cake Stalls as well as on Fete Day.

Thanks also to those who stepped into new roles for the Fete - Alice  and Annabel who managed logistics with calm and efficiency, Louisa, Kylie & Bec who supported behind the scenes and coordinated so many details for all the stalls, and Catherine Doggett, who managed so many details large and small with grace and good humour.

Finally I am pleased  to report that every single cake and sweet treat went to a good home on Sunday.

With thanks, Marianne Trinder

Clothes

Thank you from the Clothes Stall!

The Clothes Stall was a hit due to the amazing support we received from our school families and broader community! We were able to create a beautiful boutique thanks to the generous donations of quality, pre-loved goods that we received! Thanks to everyone who donated clothes and bought items on the day.

As with all stalls, a lot of work goes into the planning, set-up, pack-up and running of the Clothes Stall. There are so many people who invested their time to help leading up to fete day, on fete day and packing up.

Firstly, a massive THANK YOU to Kathleen Lang and Angela Carlucci who are a dream team! They contributed so many hours of their time to sort through the mountains of clothes, as well as set up, manage and pack up the stall! It wouldn’t have happened without you both. Thank you!

Thank you to Love it Longer (Giulia and Mattia) for their generous designer donations and for doing the “@love_it_longer edit” for socials! And Mietta Walsh for promoting the stall on socials!

I wanted to give a special mention to Alice Knowles, Annabel Barker and Catherine Doggett for sourcing and couriering the clothes racks (those things are not easy to move!), and Kim Best for generously giving up her library again to create the space we needed.

Toys

The Toy Stall was buzzing with fun and excitement on Fete day🥳,,we were greeted by a sea of smiling faces all day long, I honestly didn’t see a single frown, everyone that visited us took something special away with them.

And it was all possible thanks to the wonderful efforts of the Toy Stall Team.  I was lucky enough to bump into Bronwyn earlier in the week , and she was looking for something to help with, so we literally climbed, sorted and priced  our way through that huge mountain of generously donated toys, along with help from Casey, and her 9 week old babe, who a few passers by thought was an actual baby doll..!!

Fete Day set up went amazingly smooth thanks to Ryan, his  energy and enthusiasm was outstanding, he was at school from 7am, til pack up, and was helping somewhere every minute of the day. Huge thanks to Bronwyn and Laura for helping set out all the toys and get our decorations and signs up, we had a lot to work with and had to get it all displayed.

Also huge thank you to Laura and Casey for getting the Toy Stall off to a smashing start, and for the extra time you generously spent helping at the stall. Huge thank you to Nick and his daughter Eva who also gave the Toy Stall some extra Fete day time, and both of them worked so hard restocking toy displays and always had big smiles. Thank you to Emily for generously offering to take some of the left over toys to the toy library, some quick sorting and I think we were able to send some helpful items their way. Huge thank you again to Bronwyn and Ryan for their amazing efforts at pack up time. Also I must thank Tommy for fixing my bubble machine and his help throughout the day.

A special thanks to Ryan from Grade 6 He was at school from 7am till stumps and helping every minute of the day. You were our superman!!

It was an amazing day, and working with all these people (who I hadn’t previously met), made the Toy Stall a success.

 🥳🙏Angela

Mystery Bottles

Thank you to the numerous donators who generously supported the inaugural Mystery Bottles stall 2023 and to the many happy customers who donated anywhere from $15- $200 to our school for their chance at a lucky dip bottle or 2 or 3 or more!

⭐️ A shout out to the delightful Catherine Shepherd for spending a shift with us. Perfectly timed to give us a breather and an opportunity to focus on the raffle that stopped the nation.. or at least the neighbourhood.

⭐️ Another shout out to Jacqui Fewson, a friend of the stall leads who worked her magic, helping to sell hundreds of raffle tickets by day’s end. It takes a village and what a village it is!

We had a ball on our stall and sold out by 2.30pm, but not before bottling some of the Great Lee Street Fete energy for a return in 2024!

Bravo CNPS!

Devonshire Tea

I would love to thank our school community for embracing the inaugural Lee Street Devonshire Tea Room! You have made creating this new fete offering a real delight.

It’s been heart-warming seeing and receiving such generous acts of kindness. From family donations of gorgeous tea pots and cups (especially an exquisite selection from Vivian O'Keeffe-Mann's grandmother Janey), hand sewn bunting (the amazing skills of Abigail & Annabelle Lau's grandmother) the support of local & small hospitality businesses and producers & of course the enthusiasm and help from the tea room volunteers Miranda, Kristy, Ana, Jan, Christina, Pip and Khema.

With Briony O'Keeffe, Megan Quinlan & Amanda Lau at the helm, we were not short of a scone, or someone to serve them with a pot of tea.

A shout out to our student volunteers Abi, Margot, Tilly, Olivia, Mia, Aanika, Sybilla, Sienna, Irushi & Rose who gave a new experience a go with a friendly smile. You were the whipped cream which crowned our scones!

Thank you!

Plants

To all the fabulous helpers on the plant stall - Thankyou!!

Julia, hit the ground running at 7am and was so kind and helpful!! She knows so much about plants and took care of all the details. Felt so unbelievably supported by her.

Ryan was an absolute superstar and humble as pie to boot. He deserves a Principals award!!!

Joy the packaged powerhouse that woman! Always up for joke, always there to help. She moved mountains of books, and plants. Her green thumb and knowledge was invaluable. The Matriarch of CNPS! Although she’d hate that title I’m sure!

Julia, Erin, Bron and Ryan for set up. Also Toby for getting the giant marquee up. Julia and Erin for bump in and getting the show on the road.

Andy - just appeared at plants and stayed all day!! He was so helpful, he knew so much about plants and just came in and made it all happen!!!

Carli for the last minute live florist and flower crown marathon.

Michelle, Jacqui and Matthew Norman (aka Matt 😂) for their fantastic work moving and shaking and selling plants!

Everyone who donated plants!! We had SO MANY DONATIONS (yelling that loud it was incredible how much we received!!).

Icypole and Softdrinks

Thanks  to everyone who helped on the day. The Alumni helpers on soft drinks, icy poles and ice creams (and popcorn) were the best! I had an army of them with me all day! Thank you to them all for their smiles and willingness to get involved! Love them all!

Books

We hope that you were able to visit the sanctuary that was the Great Lee Street Fete Book Stall on Sunday, calmly oblivious to the epic journey of creation that brought it into existence.  A story with no beginning and no end.  The book stall requires enormous amounts of brawn, brain and the personality characteristics of a buddhist monk in training.

The whole thing would have been a mess without Joy, the books stall's most dedicated cult member.  Joy, a CNPS grandparent, spent hours daily in the weeks leading up to the fete sorting and stacking approximately 5000 donated books.  We are all your disciples, Joy!

We are also very grateful to another CNPS grandparent, David Barker, who was right in the thick of it all weekend.  He brought a dash of finesse to our adult fiction department and a lucky few of us benefited from his personalised book recommendation walks #bookstallperks.

Books are heavy and can be sorted and categorised for ETERNITY. Then they need to be moved again.  There is a reason that librarians need a university degree and a lot of trolleys.

However, the brawn and brains trust of CNPS showed up for us and included:

The grade 5/6 muscle team, Jaime Knight, Peter Gray, Pierre Roelofs, Liz Plant, Stephen Pascoe, Shaila Figueiredo, Kales and Murale, Annabel Davies, James Stoller, Deniz Yaka, Dave, Fiona & Sam Richmond, Ruth Williams & daughters, Peter Riches, Caroline McGrath, Hazell Opoz, Bill Corcoran, Lisa Needham, Jen & Dan Nicholls, Virginie Rey, Ronan Carr and Tom Sheils. If I missed you, please forgive me.

Special mention to Erin Tibbits and Catherine Trundle (plus Nina and Christian) who were constants over the long weekend of set up, sales and pack down and are truly delightful human beings!!

Many thanks also to Annabel & Alice for handing over the book stall chalice with heaps of instructions and support.

Snow Cones

The snow cone stand was super busy all day. Thanks to everyone for your patience while we figured out how it all worked.

Thanks to Hamish who was amazing all day, and to Kristen who managed the money so we could keep getting the snow cones done. Thanks to my Dad who did an emergency run to Barkly Square for more red cordial, and to Angus who kept topping up the ice. And thanks to Michelle for helping out in the afternoon.

Jane

Fairy Floss

I would like to thank Jane my fellow stall holder for moral support throughout the day. A huge thanks to Jason for helping even though he didn’t actually volunteer!

My alumni legends Josie and Abbie. Also Kristen And Khema For all their help in taking orders and organizing the chaotic lines we had all day. And a massive thanks to all the kids and their big smiles who never complained about the long wait. It made the day worth it!

Olivia

Fishmongers Son

Thankyou so much to all our volunteers who helped on this busy day.

Thankyou to Anthony Yotis, Laura di Florio Yotis, Shaila Figueiredo, Sally Abbott and everyone else who helped on the day.

Box Maze

Well the 2023 box maze was truly epic I think, as evidenced by the queue of eager kids that only seemed to get bigger and more enthusiastic as the day progressed.

This year Kathryne and I co-led the box maze as it’s my last year as a CNPS parent. She is a super worthy successor and together with fellow architect Prue are no doubt already dreaming up an even bigger and better maze for next year.

We also had Kathryne, Prue, John, Tony, Brendan, Michelle and Zadie helping with the construction effort on Friday night and last minute gaffa taping Sunday. Thanks so much to Michelle who contributed awesome ideas to the construction and monitored the box maze (along with Raph and his lovely son) for distress alerts! Thanks to all the big kids who helped us pack the boxes.

And I couldn’t have done it without my lovely daughter Zadie who patiently talked the little kids through the process and helped them when it all got a bit scary.

Thank you so much for everyone who donated boxes and to the excellent people who donated scary Halloween stuff, some of which looks very worse for wear, I’m really sorry (I’m happy to pay for replacements so please get in touch!)

Sarah

Shaila, Liz and Kylie for the loan of their rice cookers.

Kathleen Lang for the multiple food temp checks throughout the day.

The devonshire tea crew for loaning us their power board, the wash up station for their amazing work and the bar for sending over mimosas.

And a shout out to Toby Mullins for a bottle of bubbles to boost us as we were flagging!

Curry Team

Coffee

The coffee stall! Not for the feint hearted but without it and our volunteers it would have made for an…interesting fete for the parents.

Big thanks must go to the crew at Assembly in Carlton - the big boss, Chrissie, for making the coffee stall happen, roasting and donating coffee specifically for the fete and Yashna, Phoebe, Alex & Zach who provided their expertise on the coffee machines.

Thanks to our parent volunteers - Lizzie & Toby for helping us scramble through the setup, and Millie & Emily who handled the orders during the peak of the rush.

And Archer - whose artwork adorned the Lee St coffee bags, was there from 6:45am for set up, worked the till throughout the morning rush and was back there to bump out at the end. Good work kid, couldn’t have done it without you.
