Principals' Update

The Great Lee Street Fete

What an amazing outcome for our much anticipated Fete. The day saw both our school and the wider community come together to celebrate our wonderful school. It was such a happy day and we received so many positive comments about how phenomenal our fete was. To make a net profit of $105,000 is extraordinary and when the final total was announced we were lost for words. The most that we have raised in the past was approximately $80,000.

Thank you to everyone in our fantastic school community who contributed to this event. For all the official thank yous, please refer to the Fete page within this newsletter.

2023 School Council

Last night we conducted the first School Council meeting with the 2023 School Councillors. During the meeting we elected Office Bearers. Thank you to Rebecca Slater and Kylie Ohrstrom Hansen for nominating to be our School Council Presidents. Rebecca is School Council President and Kylie Vice President, however, the two have made it very clear that they will be working in collaboration to support each other in these roles. Moving forward within our school community, we will refer to them as the School Council Presidents.

Thank you to Ben May for nominating to be the Secretary for School Council and Conrad Dudley Bateman for nominating to be the Treasurer supporting our Business Manager, Trish Harrington, with the School Finance Subcommittee.

During the meeting, our School Annual Implementation Plan was endorsed. Please see the plan below:

School Council also discussed the tender process for a new service provider for Outside School Hours Care for CNPS. The expression of interest timeline concludes at 5:00 pm tomorrow and the working party is aiming to have shortlisted service providers by the end of next week.

Year 1/2 Science Incursion - Urban Upcycle

Year 1/2 students have been exploring how everyday materials can be physically changed or combined for different purposes. Urban Upcycle came in to help our students show their learning about repurposing materials in a fun and engaging way.

Therapy Dog Training

Throughout Term 1, Maddi, Carlye and Chris have been participating in the following online professional learning to become certified Therapy Dog Handlers:

  • Introduction to Multidisciplinary Animal Assisted Interaction (AAI)
  • Canine Assisted Interaction (CAI)

This week Maddi and her bordoodle, Dougy and Carlye and Chris and their golden retriever, Gus, completed the 3 day Provisional Handler Certification.

We look forward to welcoming Dougy and Gus as Therapy Dogs at CNPS once they have been assessed for suitability and given the go ahead to come onsite as Learner Therapy Dogs.

Reminder - No Holiday Program at CNPS over the Easter Holidays

Unfortunately, Big Childcare has advised that they will not be conducting a Holiday Program at our school over these Easter Holidays. School Council is currently conducting an expression of interest tender process for a new Outside School Hours Care provider. Hopefully, we will have a new provider in place early next term with an ongoing holiday program that does not get cancelled. We will continue to keep families informed of the progress of this process.

Reminder - Last Day of Term 1

Next Thursday, 6 April, is the last day of term 1. We will hold an Assembly prior to students finishing at 2:30 pm.
