What's Happening this Week at SPS

LITERACY:

Reading - We are focusing on the purpose of different text features as well as digging for details and important information when we are reading.

Writing - We are focusing on information reports this term and we are looking at what needs to be included in information reports as well as focusing on creating an interesting lead to our writing.

Spelling - We are learning to write words with the ue/u-e/ew/ui sounds.

MATH: Our focus is on fractions ½, ¼, ⅛ as well as days of the week, months of the year and the seasons.

INQUIRY: We are exploring design and technologies this term and weeks 2 and 3 see us working in groups to plan and design a toy.

WELLBEING: This term's focus is on help seeking. During weeks 2 and 3 students will practice skills in collaboration and peer helping.

HOMEWORK: Homework expectations are that students are completing home reading (at least every school night) and filling out their reading diary. Remember each student is aiming to get 200 nights of reading across the year to get a ticket to the Pizza Party!

Our Mascots

Our Mascots are heading to your homes again during term 2. Bessy is going home with the children in 2MD and Bob is going home with the children in 2W.

They will come home on a Wednesday and are expected to be returned on the following Monday. We have loved seeing what the mascots have been up to with the children so far and have seen some amazing handwriting from the children that they have then read and shared with their classes.

REMINDERS: 

• Check Sentral for information about our upcoming Planks incursion. Thank you to everyone who has already given permission and paid.
• Year 2 sport will be held on a Tuesday afternoon again this term.
