Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Cricket Carnival.

Our three cricket teams had a great deal of success winning/drawing all, of their matches at the recent carnival. Two of our teams are off to the regional finals in November.

Congratulations to all of the competitors and to Ms Foster and Mr Truong for their efforts. Thank you also to the parents who assisted managing a team or coming along to support the school.

Golf Clinics.

Students in Years 3-6 have been involved with golf clinics and have very much enjoyed the opportunity to practise their golf swings on the oval.

Constable Care Road Traffic Centre.

The Year 5 group travelled across to Maylands to the Constable Care Road Traffic Centre recently where they undertook lessons on road awareness and bike travel.

A practical session followed with all students riding bikes around a set of roads complete with traffic lights, railway boom gates and a railway station. They were able to practise the skills taught earlier. Thank you to Mr Truong and Mrs Wilson for supervising the students and to Sherry, one of our parents, who was successful in winning this excursion for the school.

Movie Night.

Nearly the whole school came out to enjoy a movie by the stars last Friday evening. The P&C had food available, and Louise Pope from Whitehouse Realty kindly organised the movie screen and projector for the evening. The students very much enjoyed the experience of watching ‘Sing 2’. Thank you to the P&C for putting this event together.

Year Six Excursion.

The Year 6 group travelled into the city to experience a range of future professions and the technology required to undertake them. This was held at the Perth Convention Centre. The group also went across to the Esplanade to a machinery display. They were amazed at the variety of job opportunities available. Our thanks to the parent helpers and to Mr Swan and Mr Truong who organised the group.

PP/Year One Incursion.

Our Pre-Primary and Year One students took part in an incursion called ‘Play in the Past’ and very much enjoyed the experience. A visit down to Hazel Orme was also organised to enjoy the new Adventure Playground that has recently been finished. Thank you to Mrs Colkin, Ms Richards and Ms Wilkins for organising the incursion.

Ceramic Tile- Artist in Residence.

On Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, a second ceramic tile made last year will come home with students who had the opportunity to be part of the Artist in Residence program. This is a great memento of our 120th Anniversary.

COVID Kits.

The school still has a large supply of COVID kits. Families are welcome to come into the office to pick up kits for the family if you were unable to collect them last Wednesday.

Solar Eclipse.

As there will be a partial solar eclipse on 20 April between 10:00am and 2:00pm, the Department of Health has put out information and advice on eye safety. This can be found on the Healthy WA website. It includes information on eclipse glasses.

They talk about indirect viewing as being the safest way to ensure people don’t get eye damage. [Pinhole viewer or watching it by live stream.] Children and teens are most vulnerable to solar damage.

If you are going to be in the Exmouth area on holiday, there will be a total solar eclipse.

Our staff would like to wish everyone a wonderful Term One Break.

Our school term finishes on Thursday as it is Good Friday the following day.

School will recommence for staff on Monday 24 April.

Students return to school on Wednesday 26 April as Tuesday is a gazetted holiday for ANZAC day.
