The Perth South Jobs Fair will provide people looking for work with the chance to explore current job opportunities and will connect job seekers with employers and employment service providers in the region.

All employers exhibiting at the Jobs Fair have job vacancies that they are looking to fill. The Perth South Jobs Fair is an opportunity for you to meet with employers and talk to them about real jobs, apprenticeships and training and career options in Perth and the surrounding region.

 

Not only are there jobs on offer, there are also services available to help you find your next job. Take part in workshops for information and advice to improve your chances of getting a job. Talk to a professional for résumé assistance, interview tips and job search techniques.

 

If you are struggling to find work, you can speak to local employment support services who can help you develop skills and confidence to increase your ability to gain employment faster.

The demand is high for apprentices, so it is a good time for individuals to get into the industry. 

 

Electrical Group Training (EGT) provides apprenticeship employment and training opportunities in the electrotechnology industry. Aimed at producing highly skilled and motivated tradespeople.

 

EGT apprentices are exposed to the full range of practical training and hands on experience in the electrotechnology industry providing Host Employers with a consistent supply of high-quality workers to support their business on a short or long term basis.

Career planning and transition for young people on the autism spectrum - Thursday 2 September, 4.00pm (AEST)

In this 60 minute live and interactive webinar, our presenters, Associate Professor Marina Ciccarelli, Cheryl Mangan, and Brendan James will provide information for parents about:

  • The Better Outcomes and Successful Transitions for Autism (BOOST-A) research;
  • The role of parents and supporters in youth focused, strengths-based career planning; and
  • How myWAY Employability career planner can support young people on the autism spectrum to build a customised profile and goals to plan for future career pathways.

Based on six years of research, myWAY Employability is a smart web platform that helps autistic individuals plan and prepare for working life. Autistic individuals co-produced content, design, and usability of the website. myWAY Employability matches an individual’s interests and strengths to relevant careers and pathways. It encourages users to create big dreams, and smaller goals and tasks to track progress.

Notre Dame Applications Through TISC

Students wanting to go to Notre Dame will be able apply through TISC from 2 August.

 

This partnership will have a significant impact on streamlining the application process for Year 12s. Students will now be able to apply for the 5 biggest universities in WA through the TISC site.

 

A critical consideration in the partnership was continuing Notre Dame’s consideration of

personal qualities beyond academic performance.

 

Notre Dame also considers applicants’ interests, aspirations, out of school activities, work experience and community involvement, as well as academic achievement, in assessing them for entry to our courses.

 

The 2022 TISC Guide will be distributed to Western Australian Schools from the second week of Term 3. This will provide further information on the application process to all TISC member universities.

Chemistry and Physics Offered in Bachelor of Education Secondary

Our nationally accredited Bachelor of Education (Secondary) now offers two specialist science majors:

  • Chemistry Education Major
  • Physics Education Major 

These majors, available on our Joondalup campus, have been designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to teach Years 7 to 12 Chemistry and/or Physics and provides the extended content knowledge needed to address the demands and opportunities of the secondary school chemistry and physics curriculum.

 

For students interested in the Chemistry Education Major it is desirable that all applicants have ATAR Chemistry.

 

All applicants for the Physics Education Major are required to demonstrate satisfactory performance in Physics ATAR, with equivalents considered.

 A Day in the Life of a University Student (Year 9 & 10 Students) – Wednesday, 29 & Thursday, 30 September 2021

Experience what it is like to be a university student for the day! Take part in hands on activities, meet new friends and explore Murdoch University’s Perth (South Street) campus.

 

 You will create a customised university timetable of hands-on activities in subjects that interest you, speak with current Murdoch University students studying in those areas and learn more of their pathway to university, and be inspired by our academics.

 

 There are a wide variety of workshops on offer across the sciences, health, humanities, and creative arts disciplines, find out more in the Workshops section below.

 

 The event will run on both Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 September. Please choose only one day to attend. The program is identical on both days.

18 August AVCAT Scholarships Open for 2021

To be eligible to apply for AVCAT scholarship you must:

  • be planning to enrol or be enrolled in TAFE or university education
  • have Australian residency
  • be the child or grandchild as defined by an Australian ex-serving veteran.
  • be receiving, or be eligible to receive, Centrelink Youth Allowance or an equivalent educational payment (use the Centrelink calculator to check your estimated entitlements)

The Santos Science Experience is 3 or 4 days of science activities for Year 9 and 10 students in 2021 program year

Each program is designed to provide students an opportunity to engage in a wide range of science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work.
