Aboriginal Education Team

Hi everyone!

Just a bit of information about our Aboriginal Education Team here at Hampstead Primary School. We are a team of three and include Emily McConnell the Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer (ACEO), Carly Price the Aboriginal Education Teacher (AET) and Joy Keddie our principal.

My name is Emily McConnell (ACEO) and I’m a proud Wiradjuri and Kaurna woman. I have grown up in Adelaide but my family is from Mudgee, New South Wales.

I have worked in Aboriginal Education since 2019, as an ACEO I believe making strong connections with my families is extremely important. I’m very passionate about keeping Aboriginal culture alive and encourage all of our students to share their knowledge at school and to continue listening to stories about who they are and where they come from. I hope we can build a great network in our community to support our young people’s education while ensuring we keep our culture at the centre of all we do.

My name is Carly Price and I am the Aboriginal Education Teacher here at Hampstead Primary School. I have a Bachelor of Education Degree in the Early Years and have been privileged to be at this school for over ten years, seeing many of our Aboriginal students grow and develop from my reception class up to graduating in Year 7. I pride myself on building connections with students and families and my teaching role is to support the literacy learning of all Aboriginal students in the mainstream classes. I really look forward to working closely with you to set focused goals for all students to achieve success.

Emily works full days on Monday and Wednesday. Carly works full days on Wednesday. We can be contacted directly on 0401 479 290, either Carly or Emily will pick up depending what day and time you call.

We really look forward to working with our Aboriginal families and supporting our students with their education.
