Assistant Principal's

Report

Mr Lockhart

I hope everyone is coping with the new lockdown. Hardcopy packs have been sent home. We acknowledge the difficulty as being the parent/carer and facilitator/teacher of your own children. Trust me, I know what it feels like and do not enjoy it at all. Your own children have a wonderful gift of knowing everything and answering back at the drop of a hat!!!! Not only do I want our students back at school, I want my own children back as well.  Like me I want all parents/carers just to do the best you can. If you or your child are struggling, mix it up – do not be upset if you cannot get through the set curriculum.  Our Year 7 to 10 students will get a little extra work sent home next week. VCE students are attending classes via Webex and we will hopefully see our Primary School students at school.

During this discussion, the panel of health and wellbeing experts along with community members, will provide insights and tips on how families can work together to manage through lockdowns including the role parents can play, maintaining hope, tips to improve motivation for young people and more.

Year 9 Wellbeing Day

Congratulations to all our Year 9 students in attending the Wellbeing Day last Wednesday. A big thank-you to Janice and Mr Pettifer for organising and running the day. Thanks also to Allan for cooking the BBQ, Cindy from IDHS for providing the Smoothie Bike and her presentation during one of the sessions.  In this time of Covid cancellations Janice and Mr Pettifer found a way to make it work and I thank them for that.  I am sure the Year 9 students felt it was a worthwhile and productive day.

House Athletics

A great day was enjoyed by all. Thanks to the majority of students (96% attendance) who attended, participated and dressed up in their house colours.  It was a fantastic whole school event and even the rain could not dampen our spirits. Unfortunately Jacka won much to Mr Forrest’s delight – he has been so lucky!!! First year here and Jacka win the Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics……………..beginners luck.  Thanks to all staff, especially Mrs Turnbull, Joan, Mr Gretgrix, Mr Pettifer along with Allan and Kylie for cooking the BBQ.
