Principal's Message

Mr Forrest

Lockdown 7.0

The rollercoaster ride for Term 3 continues and I hear your frustrations, particularly when we have had a great couple of weeks of onsite learning, a fantastic School Athletic Sports, and sensational Primary Mini Olympics.  A huge thanks to all staff members who stepped up to deliver a variety of events, activities and excursions over the past two weeks.  See more details in the class reports.  It was a super effort by everyone to deliver all of these wonderful experiences for our students.

Unfortunately the Delta strain of COVID is more contagious, so we have to be more vigilant at school to keep everyone safe.  Remember that everyone still needs to wear a face mask, continue practicing social distancing and sanitise regularly. Visitors must QR code in via the Front Office at all times.  We are currently inviting only adults on-site for necessary essential meetings. Please call the Front Office on 5494 3011 should you need any questions answered.   If you need your child/children supervised on-site, an 'On-site Application form' must be completed before they can attend.  At this stage we are limiting attendance to P-6 students starting tomorrow, Thursday 26 August and VCE classes as required by teachers.  Hard copy work was distributed yesterday.   Please call if you need any further assistance.

Wellbeing Wednesday has been declared for next week, Wednesday 1st of September. Please switch off, recharge and relax for a day before commencing studies the following day.  No students will be able to be on site next Wednesday.

Jacka Perfect Sweep 4 - 0

My Athletics Report will be brief this week as I will have a special report for you next edition!

JACKA Won!  Say no more. Thanks for the competition Ansett you were mighty in defeat but Jacka is in the record books with 4 wins to Ansett zero in 2021.  Interestingly, Jacka won its 10th Athletics title to Ansett's 9 so it is a very close competition. However, in the Primary Championship Jacka only just won its 2nd title in 15 years.

We all look forward to the future of Yellow Vs Blue.

Wedderburn College Primary Mini Olympics

Thanks to all staff and students in the Primary year levels for having a great go at the Mini Olympics last Friday afternoon.  Just like Tokyo we had a delay before we could finally host the games.   Thanks to Years 3/4 and a variety of other students who participated in the opening ceremony.  Students competed in a ten event program ranging from Weightlifting, Equestrian, Table Tennis to Gymnastics and many more.  Rotating every two minutes, teams had to work together to earn points and bonus points for their country.   In the final points tally, Italy won Gold, USA Silver and Bronze went to Indonesia. A fun afternoon was had by all.  We cant wait until the next Olympics in three years time.
