Finding the Positives

This week there have been several times when I have needed to stop and remind myself about how fortunate I am and to not let the frustrations and challenges become overwhelming.  It has been an important step for me to take and has allowed me to manage my emotions and reactions to other people or situations. I am grateful to have these skills and they are things we encourage in our students also.

One of our student and parents commented this week that it is easy to find yourself in a negative space with the constant reminders of COVID-19 plus the media cycle of disasters, both the ‘natural’ ones and human created ones. It is important for all of us to find the positives and to be grateful for all we have.

After a week of learning via computers it would be great for all our students, staff, and families to take a break from the screens and the negative news reel and spend some time doing alternate activities.  There may be a long list of what we cannot do at the moment, but there is also a lot that we can still enjoy.

Thank you for all the positive messages this week to our dedicated staff.  We appreciate the feedback and welcome suggestions about how we can improve the learning opportunities for student and connections with families.
