Parking - Sutherland Street

I need to touch base with you again with regard to parking on Sutherland street as we've seen an increase in illegal parking recently.

The rules I am reiterating are not our school rules, they are the law and our reason for continual reminders regarding them is so we don't have any students hurt or injured at pickup time due to illegal parking. Crossing over Sutherland street at pick-up is not safe and is illegal.

The no standing area on Sutherland Street runs the entire length of the school and is marked by signs at either end of the school boundary. It is important these areas of illegal parking are communicated to anyone who may pick up your child after school so they avoid parking here on the odd occasion.

So, if parking here isn't allowed Mr. Irwin, what's the alternative? Well, one strategy I have been pressing on our community is to take advantage of the teacher supervision that we provide as a school until 3:30. Rather than arriving at 2:45 or 3:00 for a park, the on street parking is always nearly empty by 3:25. Staff supervision is provided every day until 3:30 which means your children are safe and pickup is a breeze. There are a few families who have begun doing this which I greatly appreciate and have found how simply it makes pickup time. If we had another 5-10 families act on this it would make a big difference.

We are going to continue to grow as a school and are fortunate to have the amount of parking we already do. We need to manage it as best we can and illegal parking is never acceptable around the school. The Local Police and Council know of my concerns and will continue to monitor this parking on Sutherland street and issue fines if required. Please do the right thing when collecting children from school in the afternoon and steer clear of the No Standing areas.

Parent Opinion Survey

Each year the school conducts an opinion survey amongst a sample of the school community. This year all families are invited to participate. Results will be used to inform and direct our future school planning and improvement.

Please refer to the email sent to families on Wednesday 11th August for all the details on how to access and complete the survey. Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to the future management and organisation of our school.

The survey will be open from Wednesday 11th August to Friday 3rd September.

Please be assured that your responses are completely confidential. The survey is conducted anonymously, and it is important to us that you complete the survey as honestly as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to participate. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Questions?

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any general queries about the survey. For specific technical or participation-related queries, you may also contact the Department or the supplier administering the survey, ORIMA Research.
