Agriculture & Horticulture

The Year 9 Sense of Humus class recently visited Alcheringa Biodynamic Dairy Farm at Nathalia. They saw the beautiful ‘chocolate cake’ healthy soil on the farm and learnt about how to manage the pastures so that the cows always had the very best feed.

Students also learnt what ‘500’ is and how it is made and mixed. They saw some bulls, (who were not very happy with each other), the milking herd, some cows being dried off and calves of various ages. Students will use the information to write a report on these practices for their first CAT.

Year 11 and 12 VCE Ag Hort students are at the business end of Area of Study 1, with SACs for the next two weeks.
