SEA Reports have recently been published on Compass so that students, parents and guardians now have access to information to reflect on student performance, so far this year. Students can celebrate their successes and also look at areas where they can improve as they continue with their studies for the remainder of 2023.
Preparation is well underway for NAPLAN 2023. Students have been working to become familiar with the format. All students in Year 7 and 9 will participate in the program which enables parents and the school to measure learning growth.
NAPLAN will be completed online by all Australian Schools. This will mean that we will receive student results more quickly and that the test can be delivered adaptively. Questions students are asked vary depending on how students are performing in the test, which will provide more specific feedback on how each student is performing against the standards.
NAPLAN Commences for all Year 7 and 9 students: Wednesday 15 March and It is vital that all students bring their laptop to school every day fully charged. Please note these important dates:
Wednesday 15th March
- NAPLAN Writing assessment
Thursday 16th March
– NAPLAN Writing Catch Up
Monday 20th March
– NAPLAN Reading assessment
Tuesday 21st March
– NAPLANLanguage Conventions
Wednesday 22nd March

Thursday 23rd March
– NAPLAN Catch Up
Friday 24th March – Catch up
Students will be supported in these sessions with their normal classroom teacher so that they are with someone well known to them.
The Morrisby program for Year 9 students continues to roll on. Student feedback on the one-on-one sessions with a member of the Careers team has been very positive. This is an important part of our Careers program and helps students who are heading into the Senior School make informed decisions about their program in Years 10-12.
The Expo on the 1st March highlighted the many opportunities for students at GSSC. The parents and students who attended were able to speak to a variety of teachers and agencies that support the College. Thank you to the staff who set up and manned the information stalls, and to our community partners who volunteered their time to support this event.
The Senior Summer sports were held earlier this week. A number of teams represented our College at various venues around Shepparton. Some of our teams were successful and are moving on to the next level of competition. We wish them luck.
As the end of first term approaches students will be undertaking ongoing assessment in most subjects. Having an organised study program at home, as well as at school. is very important to ensure that they perform at their best.
