School Sport 2023

Soccer players are needed!!

LNPS submits teams to play in the North West Junior Soccer Association (NWJSA), which runs Saturday morning school-competition for term 2 and term 3.

We need more players, especially in years 3-6, to fill teams for the 2023 season (but will welcome all new registrations!). This competition is open to all Primary-school-aged children (reception to year 6).

You can register your child by emailing Katie or Vanessa. Please provide the following details: Child’s name, DOB, year level and class.

Further information

  • Matches commence Saturday, May 13th (term 2, week 2). There are no matches on long weekends, or over holiday breaks.
  • Teams are organised by age group, by the age they are turning in the calendar year. Players can play up to one age group up. Where possible we aim to keep players of the same year level together.
  • Uniform is a school soccer top, purchased by families, navy shorts, socks (long football socks – navy), shin guards (compulsory to play), and football boots.
  • Matches are played Saturday mornings at St Clair or Westlakes. Game times vary between approximately 8am to 12pm.
  • You do not need to be an experienced player! U6 and U7 teams have a 30 minute pre-match clinic run by NWJSA (on the Saturday morning), followed by a short match. U8 to Senior have matches only on game day.
  • Soccer (at all ages) is a mixed team sport.
  • Soccer is a winter sport and will be played in the rain. This competition is rarely cancelled!
  • Soccer, like all school sport, is run by volunteers. Each team needs a coach/team manager to assist on game day with general team organisation, and to run team training if they wish. The LNPS oval is available for team training on Wednesday after school. In previous years, coaches have run training and teams have shared the oval during this time.

If your child is interested in playing soccer, or if you would like further information please email lnps.soccer@gmail.com (Katie) or Vanessa.rushe993@schools.sa.edu.au

Well Done Steele and Cooper

Cooper and Steele both competed in the U10 Surf Life Saving Junior States over the past weekend. Both of the boys competed individually on Saturday in all events and again on Sunday in the team events. Cooper ended up coming away with a Gold in his Surf Swim Team event and a Bronze in the Team Wade Relay. Whilst Steele didn't come away with a medal but did make it into finals for some events, he did an absolutely amazing job to be even able to compete with a broken arm. Both boys should be proud of their achievements this year and we can't wait to see what they can do next year in under 11's.

Jax M, Smashing it in the water

Over the long weekend, Jax swam in his first-ever SA state swimming competition. It ran over 5 days and he swam in 4 events.

The 50m butterfly, the 100m butterfly, the 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle.

Jax has set a goal all year, which was to swim fast enough in the small carnivals to just qualify for the SA State Comps

Once he achieved that, he set his goal to swim hard and make the State finals.

In both Butterfly events, he made the state finals and placed 4th fastest in the state - missing out on a medal by less than 1 second!

Then he placed in the top 10 out of 40 swimmers in his age group for these other events.

A huge achievement for Jax, he had such a great attitude and swam his heart out - He smashed all his times, getting PBs in every swim!

And to celebrate ....... he ordered dominos of all things

We look forward to this time next year.......lookout

LNPS Cricket
